FAYETTEVILLE, TN–The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will be making it’s sixth stop of the 2014 season Saturday night May 24th at the Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN., for a 40 lap $4,000 to win event that will feature a special Memorial Day weekend celebration. The series will be returning to the west Tennessee track for the first time since 1993, the first event held there was in 1991 as Mike Head of Ellenwood, GA., took the win then in the 1992 and 1993 season Rex Richey of Ringgold, GA., and scored the victories. This Saturday night there will be a new name to put on the list as the Southern All Star winner at the ¼ mile oval.
Riley Hickman of Cleveland, TN., will be on leading the series drivers into the return trip to Tennessee National as he holds a 64 point lead over second place driver Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL., third place in points just 14 points behind Ames is Josh Putnam of Florence, AL., and tied for fourth place in points is Bo Shirley of Gadsden, AL., and leading Cruise with the Champions/Dirt On Dirt Rookie of the Year Chris Wilson of Crossville, TN., all of these drivers will be in action for the series return.
Todd Morrow of East Ridge, TN., Joe Armistead of Senoia, GA., are looking to crack into the top five in points as they are in 6th and 7th place, Lavon Sparks of Phenix City, AL., sits juts outside the top ten in 12th and should be in action as well. Other drivers expected include Brandon Kinzer of Allen, KY., Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS., Cale Finley of Athens, AL., Mark Gant of Savannah, TN., Dane Dacus of Lakeland, TN., Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., Daniel Miller of Lynchburg, TN., Dustin Stutts and Mark Dowdy of Florence, AL., and David Seibers of Petersburg, TN.
The Southern All Star portion of the program will consist of White Performance qualifying groups A & B, PPM Racing Products B Mains and a 40 lap $4,000 to win feature. Pit gates will open at 3 pm with drivers meeting set of 6:30 pm and race time scheduled at 7:00 pm.
