HUNTSVILLE, AL (March 20, 2013)—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series is pleased to announce the addition of two more dates to the 2013 schedule. The SAS has added a Saturday/Sunday double-header weekend at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL as part of the 35th Annual Alabama State Championship weekend on September 29/29 and will include a pair of $4,000 to win races. This brings the SAS schedule to 27 races across the Southeast, the busiest schedule since the 2007 racing season.

After a successful visit by SAS to EAMS on March 16th, first time since 1984, the track and series have come to an agreement to sanction the Alabama State Championship for the first time in the 35 year history of event. ‘We are beyond pleased to be sanctioning such a Marquee event at EAMS’ stated Race Director Chris Tilley. ‘The AL State Championship is a recognized event throughout the Southeast and we are privileged to be the first –ever series that’s part of it’ stated Tilley again. More details of the Alabama State Championship will be released as the event draws nearer.

Also, the series has made an adjustment on the dates at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN. The series has two planned visits, Saturday June 1st which will be known as the Scott Sexton Memorial that runs for 52 laps paying $5,200 to win in honor of the East-Tennessee great that died in January of a genetic blood disorder. The event that was scheduled for April 20 has been moved to Saturday August 3rd to accommodate Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals Series event at Cleveland Speedway. The August 3rd event will pay $5,000 to win and run 50 laps for the Red Ledford Memorial.

This Saturday Night March 23rd the series continues its stretch of four straight March races with a the first of three visits to Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN paying $5,000 to win during the WIMZ 103.5 Rockin’ with the Stars 40. In three previous events this season we have had three different winners with Jared Landers picking up the March Madness at Cherokee Speedway, Randy Weaver picking up the Shamrock 50 at Cleveland Speedway and Jonathan Davenport taking the Jimmy Thomas Memorial at East AL Motor Speedway.
