Charlotte, NC 8/7/12– Officials from the Pro All Stars Series and Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tennessee are proud to announce the event schedule for the 2012 All American 400 weekend October 4th-6th. The historic 400 lap event around the 5/8th mile track will pay $22,000 to the winner with each lap paying $20 to the leader making it possible for a driver to win a total of $30,000. The three day event is breathing new life into the historic event that has been on the shelves for the last several years due to the uncertainty of the race track. Now with the racetrack secure for the immediate future officials from all parties involved are excited about race teams across the country making plans to race the All American 400 once again in 2012.
“We are excited to announce this schedule for the All American 400 on whats shaping up to be one of the biggest short track races in the country in 2012. I’ve spoke with teams from around the country that plan on making the trip to Nashville for the All American 400, and they seem to be just as excited as we are to be bringing this race back to the short track spotlight,” said Tom Mayberry, president of the Pro All Stars Series. “We didn’t want to draw this event out for a week like some big events do because that cost everyone extra money and time. It’s a three day show with some good support racing, but there’s also time to get away from the track before the big race and enjoy what the city of Nashville has to offer for all the families in attendance as well.”
An optional Wednesday afternoon parking session on October 3rd will allow those who get to the Nashville area early a chance to get their rigs settled in and parked before a free cookout for teams, drivers, and media personnel that night gets underway at the quarter mile track at 5:30pm. The following morning, remaining teams will be allowed to park followed by pit gates opening at 8am to officially kick off the 2012 PASS South All American 400 event. In addition to competitors hitting the track all day for practice, this will be the first chance for teams to roll their cars through technical inspection for the 400 lap event. The night will then be capped off with racing around the track’s quarter mile track beginning at 7pm.
Friday October 5th may just be the most important date for many competitors in attendance as just three thirty minute practice sessions throughout the day followed by a short fifteen minute scuff session at 2:15pm to set the tone for qualifying at 5:30pm to see who gets in the All American 400. Each driver will get two timed laps to attempt to lock themselves inside the top twenty fastest qualifiers automatically transferring to Saturday night’s main event. Those outside the top twenty will be forced to race their way in through qualifying heat races held that night. Following the PASS qualifying heat races support division feature events by the sportsman, limited late model, and open wheel modified divisions get underway at 8pm to close out the night.
Finally Saturday October 6th its race day for “BIG BOYS WITH THE BAD FAST TOYS” PASS South Super Late Model Series at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. After a short “happy hour” practice session beginning at 10am all non qualified competitors will get one final chance to race their way in through a last chance race taking the green at 1pm. At 2:30pm the speedway’s pro late model division will do battle for 100 laps to crown the weekend’s pro late model event winner. From then on festivities leading up to the 400 lap will take place before finally at 6pm sharp the green flag will wave on 400 laps of hard nose short track racing to decide who will take home the famous All American 400 guitar trophy given to the winner over the years.
