SWAINSBORO, GA —Officials with the Turkey 100 Crate Late Model event to be held Thanksgiving Weekend at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, GA have announced the following concerning rules for the November 22-24 race.
The tire rule for the weekend will be a Hoosier only (serial # stamped) tire (Crate 21 or Crate 55 option) that must be purchased from the track. Hoosier Racing Tire will have representatives on hand to sell tires from Thursday November 22nd through the final day of competition on Saturday November 24th. The cost of the tire is $155.00 (tax included) and will be the only tires allowed during Turkey 100 competition. On Thursdays practice session, the driver’s may run whatever brand or compound but when practice on Friday begins for the Aaron’s Crate Late Models, the Swainsboro stamped Hoosier tires (21 or 55 option) will be the only tires allowed during racing competition. This is being done to promote fair competition all weekend long. Tires will be checked all weekend, which means no chemical alterations will be allowed at all. Tires can be grooved and siped, no needling.
Other technical rules include the use of a 12 inch spoiler, UMP/Lucas/WoO body rules apply. The specifications on the GM Performance 602 and 604 crate engines will be utilized including the winning race engine being torn down to the crank after the completion of the main event to be checked to make sure the engine is legal. The weight rule is 2400 lbs. before any qualifying, before any heat or last chance race and before the main event. 50 lb. weight break for Neck Restraint and/or Full Containment seat. (50 lb. total)
This event will be the largest event weekend of the season for Swainsboro Raceway as the GM Performance Aaron’s sponsored Crate Late Models will take to the track on November 22, 23 and 24 vying for the top spot and this year’s Turkey 100 Champion. In addition to the Aaron’s Crate Late Models ($20,000 to win and 50 laps), the 440’s ($200 to win), the Adams Construction Road Warriors ($300 to win), Daniels Chevrolet Pure Stock ($700 to win), Sunoco Race Fuels Super Street ($1,000 to win) and the Love’s Seafood Mini Stocks ($500 to win) will also be on the racing card for the weekend.
On Thursday Evening (Thanksgiving Day) November 22nd, the Turkey 100 Weekend kicks off with an open practice session for all divisions from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Adult General Admission will be $5.00 with Children 11 and under admitted FREE. All pit Passes will be $10.00.
A 3-Day Pit Pass will be available.
On Friday Afternoon the Pit Gates will open at 12:00 p.m. with The Driver’s Meeting slated for 5:00 p.m. and Hot Laps will roll out at around 5:30 p.m. Adult General Admission will be $10.00 with Children 6-11 Admitted for $5.00 and Children under 6 admitted FREE. Pit Passes will be $25.00 for Adults while Children 6-11 admitted for $10.00. A 2-Day Pit Pass will be available. Friday’s action will see Hot Laps for all divisions, Aaron’s Crate Late Model Time Trials (2 laps) and Heat Races (10 laps) plus Heat Races for all supporting divisions.
On Saturday the Gates will open at 12:00 p.m. with the driver’s meeting at 4:00 p.m. and Hot Laps slated for 4:30 p.m. Adult General Admission will be $20.00 with Children 6-11 admitted for $10.00 and Children Under 6 admitted for FREE. Pit Passes will be $35.00 with Children 6-11 admitted for $15.00. Saturday’s action will see Consi’s for the Aaron’s Crate Late Models and Feature racing for all divisions including the 50-lap $20,000 to win Turkey 100 for the Aaron’s Crate Late Models. Also Saturday, there will be a $750 to win Non-Qualifier’s event for the Crate Late Models.
Also on Saturday afternoon the Swainsboro Mud Bog will rev up at 4:00 p.m. with mud slinging action to thrill the crowd. There will be action in five classes – Pure Street, 35” Street, 38 ½” Street, 44” Street, and Tractor Tire. Registration will begin at 2:30 p.m. There will be a $200 Bonus in all classes. “Come see the mud fly!!”
A three-day pit pass will be offered for $60 for Adults, and $30 for children 6-11 which can be purchased on Thursday at the Pit Gate during the open practice session. A two-day pit pass will be offered on Friday, $50 for Adults, and $25 for children 6-11. Camping with hook-ups are available at the track for only $20.00 per spot. A $300 Fast Time Award will be given from GRW Competition Engines in Dublin, GA to the fastest Crate Qualifier on Friday Night.
