The running of the 18th Annual Powell Family Memorial with take place Sat. July 27th at track know as “The Friendliest Track in the South” Citrus Co. Speedway. This event was original scheduled for June 8th and was called due to rain, if needed the new rain date will be Sunday July 28th . For the last few years the event has been held on dirt and we are honored to have this event back on asphalt at our facility, stated track promoter Don Cretty. After last weekends FUPS race at Auburndale it will be one heck of a show to see if anyone can stop “Mr. Florida Short Track” Wayne Anderson as he picked up win #5 for the season.This event will also be race #6 for the FL United Promoters Series, we are thrilled to have been able to make this all work for the Powell Family, the track and the series, commented series director Rick Williams. James and I have been friends for a long time and we are so glad to host this event for him and his family, added Williams.
Past winners of The Powell Family Memorial include Jeff Purvis, Freddie Query, David Reutimann, Mike Franklin Jr., Wayne Anderson, Ivedent Lloyd Jr., Johnny Collins, and James Powell himself.
Five time winner this season with FUPS, Wayne Anderson will be challenged by young Randy Anderson, Daniel Webster, Jesse Dutilly, Anthony Cataldi, Billy Bigley Jr, Todd Brown, David Green, Scott Walters, Jeff Schofield, Mike Bresanhan and many more as they all chase the $5,000 first place prize for 125 laps.
The Legends will join the card for the night’s action along with Mod Mini’s, Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, Figure 8’s, Hornets, and Bandoleros. There will be an open practice on Friday night July 26th from 5pm-9pm., Sat. pit gates open at 10am for parking. This is a tire impound race as always For more info follow us at www.
