Lake City Fl. – Mark Whitener of Middleburg Fl. put on a dominating performance to capture the forty lap feature Saturday night. Other winners on the night were Nevin Gainey in Street Stock, Shane Taylor in Limited Mods, Ed Gainey in Pure Stock and Kevin Underwood in Box Stock.

Mark Whitener served notice early in the evening that he would be the man to beat by capturing the qualifying as the only driver to get in the seventeen second bracket. After following that up with a win in his heat race Whitener would look to take advantage of his starting spot on the outside of the front row. When the green flag dropped on the feature Whitener wrestled the lead from pole sitter Tyler Ivey on the first lap. Two early cautions for cars with flat tires slowed the early action but after that the race would feature some green flag runs as the field battled for position behind the race leader. Keith Nosbisch would take second from Tyler Ivey and try and track down the race leader to no avail. Christian Augsburger would finish up his strong run with a third place finish.

In Street Stock action point leader Marty Smith would grab the lead from his pole position and try and keep Jimmy Peele behind him. That duo would battle in the opening laps but a restart on lap two saw a new challenger in the form of Nevin Gainey. After moving from his eighth starting spot Gainey made the most of his chance on the restart and split the lead pair to take control of the race. Peele would apply the pressure on Gainey but the battle would be won by Gainey. Peele held on for third with Heath Walker coming home third.

Limited Mod action had pole sitter Timmy Roach lead the first lap but a caution for Dale Trask would slow the action. On the restart Roach spun to the inside of turn four and handed the lead to point leader Shane Taylor. Adam Higginbotham would move to second and try his chances at overtaking Taylor but he would have to settle for second at the finish. Roach would recover from his spin and round out the top three.

Pure Stocks would be led to the green by Chris Rowe but Shane Taylor would take the lead from outside of the front row. While Taylor would enjoy the early lead the father and son team of Ed and Nevin Gainey would chase down Taylor and make the battle for the lead a family affair. Ed Gainey would take the lead and then have to fight off his son Nevin for the top spot. While the Gainey’s put on some entertaining action for a few laps the family battle would soon come to and end when Nevin Gainey suffered a broken rear axle. Brent Zimmerman returned to action after a few weeks off and posted a strong run. Zimmerman would come from the tenth starting spot and apply pressure to Ed Gainey in the closing laps for the win but came up one spot short.

John Windham would take the early lead from pole sitter Dylan Hurston in the Box Stock feature and try to take another trip to victory lane. While pacing the field Windham would have a scary moment on the back stretch as he was clipped by a lapped car spinning in front of him. While he would survive the incident the yellow flag would allow Kevin Underwood to close up on his rear bumper for the restart. Underwood would take the lead and go on to capture the win. A late charging Bobby Denard would finish second while Windham would hold on for third.
