Dec. 2nd, 2011 – 53 cars were on hand tonight to try and qualify for the $10,000 to win, 100 lap feature event for Saturday night. After qualifying was done, Mark Whitener from Middleburg, FL set fast time at 15.758.

Six heat races were ran to determine the starting order for tomorrow’s feature.

Heat Race #1 – 1. Mark Whitener, 2. Jonathan Davenport, 3. Steve Francis, 4. Chip Brindle, 5. Dan Brewer, 6. Steven Roberts, 7. David Gentry, 8. Travis Varnadore, 9. Chris Cantrell.

Heat Race #2 – 1. Devon Dixon, 2. Ivadent Lloyd, 3. Doug Horton, 4. Tim McCreedie, 5. Jeff Smith, 6. Josh Peacock, 7. Matt Long, 8. Shannon Lee, 9. Mack McCarter.

Heat Race #3 – 1. Dennis Franklin, 2. Randy Weaver, 3. Phillip Cobb, 4. Steve Banal, 5. Frank Wilson, 6. Pierce McCarter, 7. Sammy Stile, 8. Ryan Montgomery, 9. Nolan Dalton.

Heat Race #4 –  1. Rodney Wing, 2. Jackie Nosbisch, Jr., 3. Randy Korte, 4. Johnny Stokes, 5. Mavrick Varnadore, 6. Matthew Turner, 7. Steven Mathis, 8. Steve Cook, 9. Tony Lawson.

Heat Race #6 – 1. Brandon Overton, 2. Shan Smith, 3. Doug Horton, 4. Ronnie Johnson, 5. Albert Cosnahan, 6. Brant Kehrer, 7. Forrest Trent, 8. Kevin Wilson.

So starting on the front row for tomorrows race will be Mark Whitener and Devin Dixon. The top three from each heat race qualified their way into the A Main. Tomorrow will be the B Mains to see who else will qualify.

After all the heat races were done, the Outlaw 4’s were up next for the 20 Lap Feature event presented by Budweiser paying $300 to win. Shirlene Hammond and Chris Zimmerman made up the front row. When the green flag dropped, it was Hammond and Zimmerman battling for several laps until the first caution came out on lap three for John Yates spinning. Green flag waved again and Hammond finally took the lead on lap five with Zimmerman right behind her. On lap seven, Zimmerman had fallen off the pace and brought out another and sending Zimmerman to the pits. Several more cautions came out and on lap fifteen it was now Hammond and Howard battling it out with Jesse Brown close at hand. On lap twenty two, it was the twenty two of Hammond spinning in turn two handing the lead over to Jesse Brown after he passed Howard.  Brown went on to win the feature with Howard finishing second. Raymond Folwell, Brittany Yates and Zach Amundsen rounding out the top five. Brown stated in Victory Lane that he was just eighteen years of age and should have had a Yohoo can on the trophy instead of the Budweiser bottle seeing how he was to young to drink. Jesse Brown and his father Scotty Williams both won of the Budweiser races this year. Hammond and Zimmerman both won their heat races.

The final event of the evening was the Street Stocks. Jeff Rodgers and Donnie Reed won their heat races. Donnie Reed was in the Christmas spirit as he had Christmas lights in his race car. Tim Gay and Locke Brown were on the front row for the feature event. When the green flag dropped, Gay took the early lead with Brown close behind him. On lap three, Thomas Burnside spun in turn two and collecting Curtis Book as well. It ended the night for both of them sending them to the pits. When the green flag waved once again, Rodgers was stalking Gay trying everything he could to get by Gay to try and pick up his fourteenth feature win of the season, but was unable to do so as Gay went on to win the feature. Rodgers finished second, while Brown, Reed and David Barwick, II were your top five.

ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park tomorrow night, December 3, 2011 with the NeSmith Late Models for their 100 lap feature event paying $10,000 to win on Saturday night. Along with them will be will be the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers, Dirt Daubers, Old Time Mods and the Daytona Area Antique Racing Association. The racing begins at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow night.
