Always a favorite, 2 time Derby Winner Augie Grill comes to town as the current points leader, already having logged 2 wins along with a 3rd place finish this season. But lurking just 2 points back, is none other than former Fairhope, Alabama resident Grant Enfinger. Grant’s George and Josh Bragg owned machine has a pair of runner-up finishes along with a 4th place run. Enfinger also sits 2nd in points in the ARCA Series as well. Opening night winner Bubba Pollard is in 3rd, Orlando, Fl. Driver David Rogers, enjoying a fine season thus far sits in 4th, and the Oklahoma traveler, Donnie Wilson, always a fan favorite, sits in 5th. These 5 drivers, along with a long list of others, including defending Blizzard Champion Chase Elliott and defending Snowball Derby winner Johanna Long will all be gunning for glory on Friday Night.
Friday’s race program will also include the Open Wheel Modifieds, where Todd Jones holds a slim lead over Gerald Wilkerson, and the Sportsman Division which finds Brannon Fowler with a 53 point lead over Jim Pokrandt, with Marty White just another 14 back. The night will be rounded out with the Bomber Division where Gary Goodwin finds himself atop the Top Gun standings for the first time this year, leading Brandon Burks by a scant 21 points.
A couple other notes of interest. Reserve seat ticket renewals for the 44th Annual Snowball Derby are now in the upgrade process. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, August 17th. On August 26th, 5 Flags Speedway will be going retro with the first Demolition Derby held in many years. Also on this night, which will serve as a Fundraiser for United Cerebral Palsy, our Annual Celebrity Race will be held, along with the long anticipated running of the West Florida Coatings Sportsman Speedtacular. It all should prove quite interesting.
Once again we would like to invite you to join us this Friday for the Rubber & Specialties 100 for Super Late Models. And as a special incentive, at 7:30pm, some lucky 5 Flags Fan Club Member will win an Auto Detail job, courtesy of Barnett’s Custom Detailing. Matt Barnett will personally detail your car in Victory Lane while you enjoy the night’s race activities. No matter what the condition when you arrive, Matt will make sure your ride is spotless for the trip home. Just another reason to make your plans this Friday Night, to visit America’s Favorite Home Track, 5 Flags Speedway. Hope to see ya at the races!!
