Are you ready for some Fireworks? With our last event on June 8th being rained out, this Friday Night’s race program has competitors chomping at the bit more than ever to “celebrate some speed”!! The entire June 8th schedule, including the Allen Turner Pro Late Models and the Kid’s Bike Races, has been moved to Friday Night, June 29th. This Friday’s regularly scheduled Buddy’s Home Furnishings Blizzard Series Coors Light 100 is shaping up to be one of the best yet. With 3 races already in the book, race #4 of 5 takes on even more importance as guys are already starting to think “Snowball”. The 45th Annual Snowball Derby is scheduled for November 28th thru December 2nd.
Bubba Pollard is a busy guy these days. He recently competed in the Howie Letow Memorial ASA Midwest Tour event at the famous Milwaukee Mile, and just last night competed in the Rowdy 251 at Berlin Raceway in Michigan. And this Friday, Pollard will return to 5 Flags Speedway where he currently sits atop the Blizzard Series Points Standings, as well as the Sunoco Gulf Coast Championship points race. Bubba’s consistency has been his key to success so far this year, though he has yet to find his way into Victory Lane. As is the norm for the highly competitive Blizzard Series, there will be a host of the best drivers in the southeast on hand Friday Night challenging Pollard, including Pensacola’s own Johanna Long. Jo is coming off a solid 16th place finish in last weekends Nationwide race at Michigan International Speedway. Another driver hoping to make his mark on Friday will be D.J. VanderLey, whose season long suspension was reduced to probation earlier this week.
Prior to the Coors Light 100 Friday Night, the West Florida Coatings Sportsman and the Butler U Pull-It Bombers will battle it out. Bomber points leader Gary Goodwin, by virtue of winning four straight feature events, has a bounty placed on him. One driver who already has his eye on the extra loot, is none other than Curtis Faircloth. Curtis, once the most feared Bomber Division competitors, spends most of his time these days helping other drivers, including Brandon Burks, who has spent most of 2012 on Goodwin’s back bumper. It ought to be interesting.
Brannon Fowler has a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, in his last 3 outings in the WFC Sportsman Class, and has a nice points lead built up as well. The 2011 Sportsman Champ will have his eyes on Michael Couture, Steve Buttrick , “Tina’s Team” (Shana, Calvin,& Marty) and several others this Friday.
As an extra treat for Friday Night, it time for our Annual Fireworks Show. As we get closer to the Independence Day Holiday, we’re gonna start it in style with a sky lighting extravaganza we’re sure you will enjoy. We sincerely hope you can start this coming weekend with an outing to 5 Flags Speedway. Hope to see ya at the races!!
