CLEVELAND, TN (September 15, 2012)—Billy Ogle Jr. has been on a Tennessee HOT STREAK since mid-August. The Knoxville, TN driver claimed his second-straight Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series event win during the Grant Adcox Memorial / Stars & Stripes 40 event at the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN on Saturday Night September 15th earning $3,500 for his efforts. Ogles previous SAS win came on August 18th during the annual Budwesier Jean Johnson Memorial. Ogles other victories include the SRRS win at Smoky Mountain and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Scorcher win at Volunteer Speedway.
Ogle led all 40 laps and holding off a hard-pressing Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC for the win while driving the Blount Motorsports Rocket. Cook settled for second while driving the D & R Motorsports MasterSbilt Race Car. Rounding out the top-five were Derek Ellis of Chatsworth, GA, Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN and Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN. Cook challenged for the lead on several occasions especially when the field was closing on lap 31 before the yellow flag and Cook had his nose on the back bumper of Ogle, then again on the final laps using multiple lines to try and get around Ogle.
Two yellow flags slowed the event. The first was on lap seven as Brett Miller spun in turn four and while this was happening, Lamar Scoggin’s entry broke on the back-chute and piled into Brian Hickman’s entry nearly destroying the front end. The second yellow flag came on lap 31 as Josh Henry spun in turn four.
The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will be back in action next Saturday Night September 22nd for the King of the Mountain 50 paying $5,000 to win at the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN.
