Nov. 5th, 2011 – Six divisions once again were on hand tonight here at The Clay By The Bay. At Intermission, was the popular Fan Participation races with a ten cars ready to battle. When it came down to the two lap final race, it was Todd Ford against Fred Long. Ford picked up his second win in a row after winning last month’s Big Jim Bargo Memorial Race.

The first feature of the evening went to the Outlaw 4’s. Stephen Hohlbaugh and Raymond Folwell won their heat races early on and made up the front row for the fifteen lap feature event. When the green flag waved, Folwell quickly took the lead going into turn one. On lap five, birthday girl Megan Rae Meyers, Kyle Worden, J.R. Baker and Chris Zimmerman got caught up in an accident in turn four, sending Meyers and Zimmerman to the pits. When the race resumed, Folwell lead the race to the checkered flag with a great battle for second between Brittany Yates and Jesse Brown. Yates crossed the line second with Brown third. Jamie Burrows fourth and Hohlbaugh fifth.

Next up was the East Bay Sprints for their final appearance of the season. Points leader before the races started, Tim George won his heat race and Billy Boyd, Jr. third in points won his heat race as well. Second in points Jimmy Ballew had mechanical problems and was not able to make the feature, leaving the points race between George, Boyd, Jr. and Kerry  Gilbert who was fourth in points. Kurt Taylor and Billy Boyd, Jr. made up the front row for the feature event. When the green flag dropped, Boyd, Jr. took the early lead and was on a mission to try and win the points championship. On lap thirteen, Kurt Taylor tried to take the lead away from Boyd, but it seemed Taylor’s rear caught Boyd’s front tire and slid up the track and his tires caught the wall sending Taylor over. At the other end of the track in turn one was D.J. Peebles also went over and landed on his tires as well. Both drivers were ok and walked away. With two laps to go, after starting eighth, Stephen Darvalics made a bid for the lead but was not able to pass Boyd, Jr. “I wasn’t to worried about the points, I just wanted the win” Boyd, Jr. said in Victory Lane. Darvalics finished second, while Terry Witherspoon, Kerry Gilbert and Tim George rounded out the top five. George unofficially wins the points by a mere four points over Boyd, Jr.

Next was the Late Models. Second in points Travis Varnadore blew up his motor in warm ups. Tommy Prince gave up his ride to Travis to run for the night. In an unfamiliar ride, Varnadore won his heat race along with Phillip Cobb winning his heat race as well. Those two drivers made up the front row for the twenty-five lap feature event. Cobb in a brand new ride took the lead and didn’t look back until lap twenty-two when hard charging Roger Crouse took the top spot. Cobb spun trying to catch Crouse which brought out the caution. Bernhardt took the second spot then and tried to catch Crouse but was unable to do so picking up his third win of the season. Bernhardt finished second while Mavrick Varnadore finished third, Kyle Musselman and Dennis Williams rounded out the top five.

Street Stocks were next with Collin Kruse and points leader Jeff Rodgers won their heat races and made up the front row for the feature. When the green flag dropped Rodgers took the lead with rest of the field trying to keep him from picking up his tenth feature win of the season. When the checkered flag waved it was Rodgers crossing the line with his tenth feature win. Donnie Reed, Locke Brown, Collin Kruse and Jarod Gay rounded out the top five.

The Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were the next to last feature of the night for their Budwieser 20 lap feature event paying $150 to the winner courtesy of Budweiser. Jason Burnside, Mathew Odell and Raymond Vann won the heat races early on in the night. Johnnie Alexander and Mathew Odell made up the front row. When the green flag dropped, everyone was trying to take the top spot. After they sorted out, Vann came out in front with Patrick Fiore right behind him.  Fiore made his way by Vann and led most of the race, but with around five to go, Fiore slipped and Vann took advantage of it and took over the top spot. Fiore tried to battle back but was not able to with Vann picking up the win. Fiore crossed the line second, but was dq’d in tech for two different springs. That put Alexander second, Don R. Quinn, Richard Humfeld and points leader Troy Dittebrand rounding out the top five.

The final event of the evening belonged to the Dirt Daubers. Birthday boy Bill Dixon held off his wife Janien to pick up the win.

ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, November 12, 2011 as it is the second of five races presented by Budweiser for the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds paying $700 for a 20 lap feature event.
