It was Golden Gate Speedway Alumni night at the Clay by the Bay as we honored the tradition of the once grand Tampa track which is gone but not forgotten.  Fans were treated to the running of the Orange Blossom Sprints and Vintage cars at the intermission.  Four classes of racing were on the card for the evening but Mother Nature ended the program short with only the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modified’s and Street Stocks completing their program.

In the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modified 15 lap feature event Austin Sanders passed Bobby Dixon on the 14th lap to take the win.  The win was the 3rd of the season for Sanders.  Bobby Dixon finished 2nd.  Roger Crouse had a strong run and finished 3rd.  Buzzie Reutimann and John Bradley rounded out the top-5.  Bradley and Reutimann won the heats.

The Precision Kia of Wesley Chapel Street Stocks were up next as Thomas Pratt won the rain shortened feature event.  Donnie Reed finished 2nd.  Buck Woodhouse finished 3rd.  Justan Rodgers and Roy Woodhouse rounded out the top-5.  Eric Moon, Ronnie Whitley and Pratt won the heat races.

In the Racecar Engineering Late Models and the Outlaw 4 feature events will be made up at a later date.  During the summer months you can check the status of the racing programs on race day at the track website, www.eastbayracewaypark.com.
