Salem, IN (September 5, 2012) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series will make its first ever visit to Flat Rock Speedway located in Flat Rock, Michigan for the 7Up 125 this Saturday, September 8th. The two groove ¼ mile oval is owned and operated by ARCA and is a sister track to Toledo Speedway which has hosted several CRA events since the 1999 season.
Many of the best competitors from the ARCA/CRA Super Series will be there Saturday lead by two time series Champion Johnny VanDoorn, who comes into Saturday’s event with a 122 point lead in the season points with a series leading three victories including the series last event at Dixie Motor Speedway on August 3rd. The series was scheduled to compete on Labor Day Weekend, but that event was postponed until September 23rd because of weather. VanDoorn has competed at several tracks throughout Michigan, but this will be his first ever race at “The Rock”.
Second place in points Kenzie Ruston is also entered, she is looking to become the highest ever finishing female in CRA points and is looking to pick up her second series victory. Three time series Champion Scott Hantz is also entered. Hantz has competed is several Outlaw Late Model events at Flat Rock, but is still seeking his first victory at “The Rock”. Other top CRA drivers entered include Terry Fisher Jr., top series rookie Travis Braden and Nate Caruth, also Jay Niewiek, Kenny Tweedy, former ARCA Truck Series competitor Nick Gullatta, Jason Dietsch, and Brent Jack, who has one victory at Flat Rock in an Outlaw Late Model.
2003 Flat Rock Speedway Outlaw Late Model Champion Stan Yee Jr. will make his ARCA/CRA Super Series debut Saturday driving for Larry Varney. Yee Jr. has eight victories at Flat Rock. Former Flat Rock Street Stock and Outlaw Late Model competitor Paul Hahn will also make his CRA debut Saturday night. More recently Hahn has competed with the ARCA Truck Series were he won several Championships. Ed Szelagowski Jr. will make the haul from Wisconsin to compete in Saturday night’s event. Pat Zorn will make his second series start Saturday night.
Pits open on Saturday at 1pm with practice beginning at 3:30pm. Qualifying will begin at 5:30pm. There will be an on track autograph session with the ARCA/CRA Super Series drivers on the track at 6:30pm. The 7Up 125 will take the green flag at approximately 7:20pm. There will be a 300 lap Enduro event after the 7Up 125.
