Just when we thought Mother Nature would never stop raining on our parade, she gave us a break last Friday Night and we saw some great racing action in front of one of the largest crowds in recent memory at 5 Flags Speedway. The best part, is that the momentum is sure to carry over to this Friday Night when we get back on our regular schedule with the return of the Allen Turner Series Pro Late Model 100, along with the West Florida Coatings Sportsmen and the Butler U Pull It Bombers.

Points leader Mike Garvey brings his Tracy Goodson owned Ford into Friday’s event as the PLM Points leader, aided by wins in the first two Series events. Augie Grill found Victory Lane in race #3. These two drivers will certainly feel the heat from some of the South’s finest racers, including Georgia Bulldog Dwayne Buggay, Houston Texan Brandon Bendele, San Antonio Spur Chris Davidson, Milton Panther Wayne Niedecken Jr., and well….the list goes on. It ought to be a barn burner!!

We thought that it looked as though Defending Sportsman Division Champion Brannon Fowler was on cruise control to another title, but my how quickly things can change. After a DNF last Friday by Fowler, Steve Buttrick has climbed back into the hunt, now just 40 markers back. And Gary Goodwin has experienced much the same fate after a grinding crash on July 27th., in his Butler U Pull It Bomber Division Chevrolet, allowing Brandon Burks to pull within 49 Points. With both Heat Race and Feature Race Points up for grabs Friday Night, things may very well become even more interesting.

The 2012 Racing Season is winding down, with this Friday’s action one of just 3 regular season events remaining. After Friday, we’ll take a few weeks off, so Drivers can reload their guns for our Championship shootouts in late September. Then, we’ll all take a deep breath and ready ourselves for the 45th Annual Snowball Derby, to be held this year November 28th thru December 2nd. Ticket renewals from last year reached record numbers this year, but there are still good seats available. Fans are encouraged to purchase as soon as possible to insure the best choices. News releases concerning this year’s Derby will start coming out in mid September. Thanks, as always, for being a 5 Flags Fan and Fan Club Member, and we hope to see you at “America’s Favorite Home Track” this Friday Night.
