Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators will all tackle the 3/8 mile of Bubba Raceway Park this Saturday. Also, beginning with the October races, the Ocala Tilted Kilt will have a “Race Replay” on Wednesday nights [the first screening will be on October 9th] as they show Sheila Rackley Production’s high quality videos from the previous Saturday’s action.
Jeff Mathews is now the championship leader by 12 in the Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds as he dispatched Charlie O’Neill in the last race. Bryan Bernhardt and Scott Kurtzner are tied for the third position, just 34 back. Rich Pratt still sits within a race of the leader, but this championship is far from over by any means.
Tyler Clem has opened up a 40 point lead now over Chuck Jackson as Clem strives to be the youngest recorded champion in stock car racing. Nevin Gainey and Tim Powers now sit over 175 back in third and fourth, respectively, and Forrest Gough rounds out the top five. History is on the line in the Limited Late Models.
Devin Walker seeks to become the youngest champion in Bubba Raceway Park history (unless Clem holds on) with a Hobby Stock championship. With a 351 point gap to Sean Monoghan, the title seems to already be in Walker’s hands, but Monoghan hasn’t given up just yet. Brian Shea, Mike Stalnaker, and Hunter Gustafson sit in the top five and are the only remaining drivers with a shot at overtaking Walker on the points board.
The 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks title fight is down to Summerfield’s William Gillam and Anthony’s Brandon Elwood. A 26 point gap in Gillam’s favor is not what he wants to see, but Elwood isn’t too upset after failing to finish last week’s race and only losing 13 points. Brandon Tillander is up to a career best third while Melvin Fockler and Tony Campbell complete the top five.
Stephen Frankland’s season in the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators has been impressive as he nearly has ten wins on the year. The championship is nearly over as Tom Sheehan is 325 back with just five races left. Bill Southard, rookie Tyler Bryden, and Josh Fincher complete the top five.
Pits open at 4, grandstands open at 5, and racing is scheduled for 7. For more info, please visit www.bubbaracewaypark.com or call us at 352-622-9400!
