Nov. 12th, 2011 – Six divisions were on hand tonight once again here at East Bay Raceway Park. After tonight’s events, there will only be four weeks of racing left for the 2011 Season.

The first feature of the evening went to the Outlaw 4’s. J.R. Baker and Jesse Brown made up the front row for the feature. Jesse Brown took the early lead with Billy Howard hot on his bumper. Howard took the lead from Brown on lap four and Brown appeared to have mechanical issues which brought out the caution and headed into the pits. When the green flag waved again, Howard was on a mission and never looked back picking up his first feature win of the season. When asked in Victory Lane about being on the gas the entire time, he said he never lifted and thanked his sponsors for sticking with him after having a rough season. Roberto Morfin, Jr. picked up second while Stephen Hohlbaugh, Nick Hebrank and Sherman Pope rounded out the top five. Howard also picked up the heat win.

Next up was the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Limited Late Models for the 20 Lap Feature event sponsored by Budweiser. John Gross and Scotty Williams made up the front row. Green flag waved and Williams took control of the race never looking back. Forrest Gough started sixth and quickly made his way up to second. The best race belonged to Gross, Roger Crouse and Phillip Cobb as they battled for twelve laps. On lap thirteen, John Gross spun collecting Cobb and caused damaged to Cobb’s car. On the restart, Williams once again took control of the race. Williams picked up his fourth win of the season. Gough finished second while Crouse, Jason Pope and Ricky Land were your top five. Gough and Cobb won their heat races.

Next was the Late Models. Roger Crouse and Phillip Cobb won their heat races and also made up the front row for the twenty-five lap feature event.  Cobb took the early lead with Crouse right behind him. First caution came out on lap eleven with Al Larson spinning. On the restart, Cobb once again was out in front. Caution came out again for Larson spinning once more in turn four almost collection Cobb.  The final caution came out with just two laps to go which tightened up the field with a single file restart. Cobb went on to win the feature and stated in Victory Lane that the car was a brand new car. Crouse was second with Dennis Williams, Mavrick Varnadore and Cecil Martin rounding out the top five.

Street Stocks were next with Jarod Gay and Jim Baker on the front row. When the green flag waved, Jim Baker took the lead with Gay right behind him. A caution came out for Jarod Gay appeared to have mechanical issues. On the restart Baker led the field into turn one. On lap eleven, Baker spun in turn two with Locke Brown and Jeff Rodgers trying to avoid him and ended up in the wall. Both cars were able to continue sending the three cars to the rear handing the lead over to David Barwick, II. On the restart Barwick looked like his would be on his way to his first feature win, but Jeff Rodgers passed him and went on the win his twelfth feature win of the season. Barwick crossed the line second, but was dq’d in tech for illegal headers putting Thomas Burnside second after starting in the fifteenth position.  Locke Brown was third with Curtis Book and Bob Fleming rounding out the top five. Rodgers and Brown won their heat races.

The Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers were the next to last feature of the night. Jason Burnside and Kayla Jones made up the front row for their feature event. Jason Burnside took the early lead with Jones right behind him. A caution came when the James Spears rode turns one and two’s wall and coming to rest on the backstretch.  Several more cautions came out as Jones and Patrick Fiore tried to pass Burnside, but were unable to as Burnside picked up his very first feature win. Fiore was second, Jones third, Dalton Goldhammer fourth and Bubba Puyear fifth. Fiore, Johnnie Alexander and Raymond Vann won their heat races.

The last race of the night belonged to the Dirt Daubers. Fans persuaded starter Ronnie Luckock to send them in the opposite direction after the track had been watered down. Bill Dixon went on to win his fifth feature of the season tying his wife Janien for the most feature wins in the division. Jeff Weaver crossed the line second right on Dixon’s back bumper. Brett Phillips, DB Hogwaller and Bill Bolle were your top five. 

ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, November 26, 2011 as it is the fourth of five races presented by Budweiser for the Street Stocks paying $400 to win for their 20 lap feature event. Also returning are the Top Gun Sprints for the final appearance of the 2011 season. Along with them also will be the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Limited Late Models, and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.
