Jim Rouse, BRP Media, Ocala, FL – As the most intense season in recent history winds down, we see plenty of drivers fighting over 8 championship trophies. There are still a few races to be run, however, and the Twisted Tea Top Gun Sprint Cars joined the Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators in 5 of those battles.

Hobby Stocks would take to the clay first and Mike Stalnaker led lap 1 from pole. On a restart Don Woosley, Kyle Morse, Marty Smith, and Thomas Burnside caused a 4-car pile-up in turn 1 that forced a red flag with 18-to-go. Up front it was Stalnaker upsetting the worlds of Trevor Gamble and Tim Powers. Gamble took the lead on the restart but after another caution he lost it to Tim Powers! The order after Robert Sirmons’ lap 7 spin from 4th was Powers, Gamble, and Stalnaker. Joe Boyd blew up on lap 10 right as time expired while Mark Maresca, Chuck McHone, and Rebecca Paugh spun to avoid. Powers, the 2011 champion, would have to hold off brand new champion Trevor Gamble and the rest of the pack! The 2012 season ended with 2011 champion Tim Powers the winner over newly crowned champion Trevor “The Gambler” Gamble. Mike Stalnaker finished 3rd in his underfunded #9 with Kyle Maynard and Brian Morgan rounding out the top 5. In tech, however, the Rick Friend team inherited the win when Powers carburetor was found illegal. Devin Walker inherited a top 5 but Gamble took home 2 big trophies.

Twisted Tea Top Gun Sprint Car action was next and Mark Ruel, Jr. would take his Xpress Graphixx #83 to the lead but had Danny Martin, Jr. and Robbie Smith behind him. On lap 9 “The Hammer” breathed and put his #82 right between the wall and Ruel. Just 1 lap later the caution flew when Shawn Cornell’s #21 couldn’t quite get into the pits safely. Martin led Ruel and Smith for the restart. Martin pulled away as he ran 14.5 second laps consistently. Martin took his 2nd win in flying fashion over Mark Ruel, Jr., Robbie Smith, championship leader Matt Kurtz, and AJ Maddox.

Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds made a show of it with Dalton Lanich up front. On lap 3 Tyler Clem spun on the backstretch to bring out caution #1 with Lanich leading Rich Pratt and Buzzie Reutimann. Lanich began to pull away from the pack but it went away on lap 11 when Tyler Clem spun in the same exact spot. Lanich couldn’t be stopped as he beat his team-mate Garret Stewart to the punch to get Chris Williams a win at Bubba Raceway Park. Rich Pratt would put the Macaloso #78 in 2nd with Buzzie Reutimann 3rd, Gary Sexton a strong 4th, and Garret Stewart a dismal 5th.

The 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks put on a different kind of show with james Erickson up front for this one. Plenty of cautions plagued the event including an incident that involved 3 of the 4 Erickson’s and Stalnaker’s. The wreck cost Mike and Jeff Stalnaker the 1st and 4th spot while James and Harold Erickson went from 2nd and 3rd to 1st and 2nd, respectively. One caution, however, came out for a flip that involved Luke Sadler and Shane Nichols. Sadler hit Nichols and the 15 put Nichols’ 65 into the wall and into the catch fence. Nichols and Sadler were both okay. More cautions would force Race Control to call the race after 6 laps of action leaving James Erickson the winner over his father Harold. Donnie Ashford put the Woodall Fencing #3W in 3rd over Jason Gamble and John Thorpe.

Brian Thorpe would lead early in the Rent-N-Roll Gladiator tussle before giving way to Reid Christensen on lap 9. A debris caution would slow the field just after the pass was official. The final run was intense as on the last turn of the last lap Thorpe cut his right front and Brandon Haseleu was spun from a potential 2nd by Shane Guessford. The final rundown saw Christensen beat Thrope, Guessford, David Pate, and Danny Brown. Christensen-Souther Racing had a solid night with a 1-3-5 before they go to a big race elsewhere.
