SGMP LogoJEFFERSON, GA (April 28, 2014) – Longtime Georgia racing and Gresham Motorsports Park supporter Larry Fleeman will be honored as the title partner of Saturday’s Pro Late Model 100 event at GMP.  The ‘Larry Fleeman Memorial 100’ marks the third year Fleeman will be on the marquee for a premiere event at GMP. In 2012 and 2013, GMP honored Fleeman – who passed away on May 2, 2012.
“Larry Fleeman was one of the best friends Georgia auto racing ever had and he was particularly generous in his continual efforts to support Gresham Motorsports Park,” said GMP general manager John Close. “Larry also happened to be one of the finest gentlemen anyone could ever meet and while it is unfortunate that he is no longer with us, it’s very satisfying to be able to continue to remember Larry and celebrate his life and contributions to our sport through this memorial event.”
The Larry Fleeman Memorial 100 will mark the first time a Pro Late Model event will be nationally telecast from Gresham Motorsports Park. One of the most exciting pavement divisions in the country, the one-hour taped delayed program of the Larry Fleeman Memorial 100 will be syndicated into more than 100 million households across the United States and Puerto Rico when it airs in mid-May. Billy Ogle Jr Dominates Ricking With the Stars Smoky Mt Southern All Star Event

SAS LogoMARYVILLE, TN—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series returned to the Smoky Mt Speedway in Maryville, TN., Saturday night and local favorite Billy Ogle Jr of Knoxville, TN., put on dominating performance for the night as he sat fast time in White Performance qualifying and then lead 39 of the 40 lap event en route to the $5,000 to win paycheck.

Ogle along with outside pole sitter Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC., brought the field to the green for the initial start of the race, but as the field headed down the backstretch, midway through the field in turn three the cars of Tommy Kerr and Josh Putnam got together with Putnam cutting across the infield through the go kart track and Kerr flipping his car over.  Putnam was able to continue but Kerr was done for the night.

The next start saw Cook get a slight jump ahead of Ogle on the start and Cook lead lap one but Ogle moved under him in turns one and two and then proceeded to stay up front and work lapped traffic with ease to get his 12th career series win.  Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN., came home in second spot, who made a late race charge from his ninth starting spot to get by Cook, who fell back to third and blew a tire as he came across the finish line, fourth place went to point leader Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, TN., and fifth place was Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL., in his best career finish with the series. Enfinger conquers Salem; takes first three wins of ARCA season

arca-logo-2010(SALEM, Ind.) – Grant Enfinger made ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards history Sunday afternoon, winning his third race to start the 2014 season, becoming just the second driver in series history to do so.

“The stars are just lining up for us,” Enfinger said. “It’s pretty unbelievable.”

After leading the first 100 laps of the Federated Auto Parts 200 presented by Crunch’N Nutter at Salem, Enfinger moved back to the front late in the race and took the lead when Ken Schrader hit the wall in turn one on the last re-start. Schrader was leading when the re-start began with Enfinger in second.

“I wanted the chance to drag race him to the finish,” Enfinger said. “I think he just blew a right front there. That’s what happened. It was a lot of fun racing up front against him.”

Spencer Gallagher finished second, Frank Kimmel third and Cunningham Motorsports drivers Austin Wayne Self (fourth) and Tom Hessert (fifth) rounded out the top five. (more…)

MOXLEY ROLLS TO MODIFIED WIN AT ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD

Ricky MoxleyOrlando SpeedWorld was back in action Friday night with six classes putting on some great racing for the fans.  Headlining the show were the Open Wheel Modifieds and it was veteran driver Ricky Moxley of Hobe Sound taking his first win of the year in fine fashion by leading every circuit of the 25-lap feature.  Mosley breezed to the front on
the opening lap trailed by heat winner Zach Harris who stayed close for awhile before Moxley steadily began to pull away.  The race ran the full distance under green and Moxley took the checker in front of Harris and Travis Roland.  Earl Beckner was fourth ahead of Alan Bruns, Matt Wheeler and Austin Howell.

Becca Monopoli of Lakeland won her second straight Pro Truck feature leading all but the opening lap.  The only slow-down of the race came on lap seven when the engine expired in Whitney Poole’s truck while she was running second.  Eddie Lichtenberger would end up finishing in the runner-up spot ahead of Kelly Ross and Poole.  Monopoli also won the heat race.

Young Charles King, Jr. passed Shane Sutorus on lap four of the Four Cylinder Stock main event and never looked back in winning  the first-ever feature race of his brief career.  Driving a Chevy Cavalier, King easily outdistance the Saturn station wagon of Sutorus to take the victory.  Zachary Curtis, also in a Saturn, was third ahead of Paul Cornelius and John Gross.  Damien Kwaak, Jeff Gross, Red Ryder and Kendra Reynolds rounded out the finishers.  King was also the heat race winner.
