Jonathan Allard Completes California Driver Sweep of Gold Cup

Allard follows up win by fellow California-native Carson Macedo, to complete a California sweep of the Gold Cup
CHICO, Calif. – Sept. 6, 2014 – Daryn Pittman had the Gold Cup Race of Champions win in his sights Saturday night but Jonathan Allard had other ideas. In the final turn, on the final lap, Allard got around the reigning series champion to score one of the biggest prizes on the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series schedule – the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Allard’s win made him the 21st different driver this season to win a World of Outlaws feature and gave the California crew a sweep of the weekend’s events at Silver Dollar Speedway over the Outlaws.

“Did I win? What?” Allard said in victory lane following his victory. “You have no idea. After the week we’ve had, just to come home with all my friends and family, especially this crowd has always supported me, this hometown win is pretty special. I’ve always wanted to win a Gold Cup since I was sitting up there eating ice cream. I can’t even believe it!” (more…)

Bryan Bernhadt Wins Late Model Feature At East Bay Raceway Park

GIBSONTON — At East Bay Raceway on Saturday night, feature winners on the 1/3-mile clay oval Bryan Bernhardt winning the Late Models, Forrest Gough in the Limited Late Models, Brandon Yates in the Outlaw Fours, Kayla Jones in the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers and Ashley Humfeld in the Ladies Powder Puff.

In the Late Model 25-lap feature it was Bryan Bernhardt picking up his second win of the year after a close call on the opening lap. Bernhardt was able to hold off hard charging Phillip Cobb and David Pollen, Jr. Pollen, Jr. and Cobb won their heat races.

In the Limited Late Model 15-lap feature it was Forrest Gough picking up his eighth feature win of the year. Dalton Myers would finish second with Jeremy Simpson third. Gough and Richard Livernois, Jr. won their heats.

Stevie Smith ties dad with 16th UNOH All Star win, takes Night Before the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal

PORT ROYAL, PA (Friday, Sept. 5, 2014) – Stevie Smith held off charges from Danny Holtgraver to win the $5,000 Night Before the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway Friday Night. The win was Smith’s 16th career University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions victory, as he has tied his dad, Steve Smith’s career series total.

Piloting the Fred Rahmer/Dave Prichard-owned #51, Smith took the lead from pole-sitter Doug Esh early in the non-stop 30-lapper. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania driver Danny Holtgraver, who started in the outside front row, challenged Smith several times late in the race, but his car faded in the final laps as Danny Dietrich took second on the last lap.

“I was thinking it was 25 laps,” Smith said with a chuckle beside his Miller Chevrolet/Aran Trading/Tru-Line Contractors/Don Ott Engines/Ken’s Tire/Durr Enterprises/Engler backed machine.

Kentucky Driver Claims Selinsgrove’s National Late Model Open for Second Straight Year

LaniganVL2_650 SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Aug. 31, 2014 – Darrell Lanigan made sure his stellar 2014 World of Outlaws Late Model Series campaign will be remembered as one of the best ever on the national tour with a dominating victory at Selinsgrove Speedway on Sundayevening.

The two-time series champion and current points leader scored his 15th WoO LMS victory of the season at the historic half-mile oval, tying his own single-season win record set during his championship-winning season in 2012. Lanigan paced every lap ofSunday’s 50-lap A-Main, earning $10,650 for his second straight victory in Selinsgrove’s National Late Model Open.

“This definitely means a lot,” Lanigan said of the record-tying performance that marked his series-leading 68th career WoO LMS victory. “We go every week to win a race so to get that many wins just shows how great a car we have and how hard we’re working. Don O’Neal Wins Thriller at I-77 Raceway Park and Earns First Hillbilly Hundred Victory

2014results_8-31 RIPLEY, WV (August 31, 2014) – In a tremendous finish between the top two in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship points standings, Don O’Neal held off Jimmy Owens to win the 46th Annual Hillbilly Hundred on Sunday Night at I-77 Raceway Park. O’Neal fought off some tough challenges to claim the $25,000-victory in America’s oldest crown jewel event. The event was also part of the ASi Crown Jewel Cup presented by Dirtondirt.com and awarded valuable points towards the year end $10,000 cash award.

Steve Francis driving the Clint Bowyer Racing team car to O’Neal charged back from the tail to finish third after spinning out early while running second. 12th starting Dennis Erb Jr., finished fourth and Jonathan Davenport rounded out the top five.

“This is a pretty fun and interesting track to race on,” said the winner, who now sits just 25 points behind Owens in the race for the LOLMDS title. “There were so many caution flags out there. I felt like they hurt me because I’d get my rhythm going and then we would have another caution. Jimmy came up there near the end and made it closer than I wanted it to become. It feels good to win such a prestigious race; a lot of great drivers have won this one, and to win this for Clint Bowyer, Barry and Lance Wright, Jeremy Justice, and Tony Trent is a great way to top off the weekend.” (more…)

Schatz Scores Skagit Sweep of the Monster Energy Meltdown

Holds off Brad Sweet and Joey Saldana to get his fifth World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win in a row and 19th of the season

083014_Skagit_VL ALGER, Wash. – Aug. 30, 2014 – On the way to winning his fifth World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature in a row, Donny Schatz has had easier nights than Saturday’s Monster Energy Meltdown at Skagit Speedway. After first fighting his way past Joey Saldana, he had to battle through lapped traffic and then hold off a hard charging Brad Sweet.

In the end though the result was the same as it had been 18 other times this season – Donny Schatz stood in victory lane as the winner.

“I’m just very fortunate to be around great people from my race team to my family, car owner, everyone that’s surrounding us, our marketing partners with STP and Armor All,” Schatz said. It just fits all together. It’s pretty amazing what these guys all do. They give me an awesome racecar every night and I get to do a lot of fun things and I got to do another fun one tonight.”

Schatz started the feature on the pole but it was Saldana who led the first lap and the 11 that followed. Through early cautions and battles farther back, including one between Schatz and Paul McMahan for second, Schatz kept his sights on the lead. (more…)

McCreadie Overtakes Clanton Late At Selinsgrove Speedway, Earns Third World of Outlaws Late Model Series Victory Of 2014

New York Driver Charges from Sixth to Claim Half-Mile Oval’s Showdown on Sand Hill Main Event

TMac_VL650 SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Aug. 30, 2014 – Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., charged forward from his sixth starting spot and overtook polesitter Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga., with five laps remaining in Saturday’s Showdown on Sand Hill A-Main at Selinsgrove Speedway on his way to his third World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory of the season. The 40-year-old McCreadie earned $8,650 in the first leg of the national tour’s doubleheader at the historic central Pennsylvania dirt track.

McCreadie, the 2006 WoO LMS champion, pulled away through the final laps of the 40-lap race, crossing the finish line with an advantage of 2.121 seconds. His 28th career WoO LMS victory marked his first trip to victory lane at the sprawling half-mile oval.

“It took me a little while to get going, but once I did, I think being able to move around early starting where I did helped me later,” said McCreadie, who chased down Clanton in his Sweeteners Plus Rocket Chassis as the two leaders raced through traffic during the race’s closing laps. “I don’t think Shane knew the track had changed that much, but it was a great night for Sweeteners and the whole program.” (more…)

Jackie Boggs Blasts to Lucas Oil Victory on Saturday Night at Portsmouth Raceway Park

2014results_8-30 PORTSMOUTH, OH (August 30, 2014) – Jackie Boggs blasted from third to first on a late restart and went on to win the Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble on Saturday Night at Portsmouth Raceway Park. Scott Bloomquist was in control of the race before a caution with 40 laps complete, setting up a thrilling finish in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event.

Bloomquist had the dominant car from the start of the event, then over the last ten laps he developed fuel-pressure issues. He gave up the lead to Boggs on lap 43. Boggs brought the huge crowd to its feet with his high-side pass of Bloomquist as he pulled away for his third career LOLMDS victory. Steve Francis finished second for the third consecutive time in LOLMDS competition. Jared Landers finished third, followed by Eddie Carrier Jr., and Bloomquist, who faded to fifth at the finish.

“This car was just a frame on Monday morning, we worked all-week on this new Swartz car and I will tell you, this thing is fast,” said the winner, afterwards. “I think the paint just dried on the car today,” Boggs excitedly said. “We had gone so long without a caution. I was just content to hang on for third. But then the caution came out with ten to go and I thought well maybe we had another chance at Bloomquist.” (more…)

Another Dominate Night for Schatz as he wins at Monster Meltdown

Schatz scores his 18th win of the season and fourth in a row during night one of the Monster Meltdown at Skagit Speedway

082914_Skagit1_VL ALGER, Wash. – Aug. 29, 2014 – With another dominate performance during night one of the Monster Meltdown at Skagit Speedway on Friday night, Donny Schatz continued a podium streak that began on July 19 and World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win streak that now stretches four races.

Schatz, who won 23 races last season with his STP/Armor All team, is proving especially formidable this season as his 18th win of the season extended his championship points lead over second place Daryn Pittman to 197.

“It always feels good to win,” Schatz said. “Especially out here at a place we’ve not been so swell. Hats off to the whole STP team – these guys should be up here (on the podium). They’re doing a phenomenal job. They give me a racecar every night that’s capable of winning and it’s done that. It’s an awful fun position to be in.”

Luck was on Schatz’s side throughout the night. The dash inversion draw put him on the outside pole for the dash and ultimately helped him to the same starting position in the A main. Then, during the feature, Schatz had trouble just before an open red flag. (more…)
