0jacksonville-062116-533JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – June 21, 2016 – Bobby Pierce continued his Summer Nationals dominance Tuesday night at Jacksonville Speedway’s ILMO Propane Wildman Kelly Classic as he battled Mike Marlar to score his third win so far this season.

Pierce, the 19-year-old reigning Summer Nationals champion, came into the Heartland Tour kick off at Jacksonville after the first Monday break. After setting a new track record of 11.783 during qualifying, Pierce started the 40-lap feature in sixth with Marlar on the pole.

Pierce very quickly powered through the field once the green flag fell and found his way around the leader Marlar on lap 14. Through the remaining laps, Pierce was in a class all his own as Marlar looked for some way to catch the No. 32. Just before a caution on lap 37, Pierce nearly had the entire field lapped, having caught the battle for third at that point.

Pierce easily closed out the night with his second win in a row and third in five races. It was his 10th career Summer Nationals victory.

“Man, it’s starting off really good,” Pierce said. “I just hope it keeps going.” (more…)

Josh Williams first repeat ARCA winner in ’16; wins at Madison

Josh WilliamsMADISON, Wis. (June 19, 2016) – Josh Williams said after his career-first victory at Nashville back in April that he was going to win more races. He was right. Williams, in the family car, held off a hard-charging Kyle Weatherman to win the Montgomery Ward Father’s Day 200 Sunday afternoon at Madison Int’l Speedway.

After eight different winners in as many races, Williams, in his own No. 6 Southwest Florida Cable Construction Chevrolet, became the first repeat winner of the 2016 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season.

“This was a complete group effort today,” Williams said. “We weren’t even supposed to be here. We’re down on funds, and we came off the chassis dyno 45 horsepower down…not sure why. Other than that, the car was really on it today. It was so hot that being down on horsepower probably didn’t hurt as much. I just want to wish my father a happy Father’s Day watching back home in Florida.” (more…)

McDuffie Beats Field, Rain in Truck Invitation

cody mcduffieAs a field of two dozen of the state’s best pro truck drivers took the green flag for the inaugural Florida Pro Truck Invitational Saturday night at Desoto Speedway, they knew they had to top two things: a stout truck driven by Cody McDuffie and Mother Nature.

The drivers may have bested Nature’s fury by a matter of moments, but they couldn’t stop McDuffie from driving into the winner’s circle in Desoto’s biggest Pro Truck race of the 2016 season that capped off a rare Father’s Day weekend doubleheader.

Brent Huber started on the pole of the scheduled 75-lap main event and would hold off a fierce series of challenges from J.R. Garcia, McDuffie and Nick Hernandez over the first 20 laps.  (more…)

The Veteran Vs. The Young Gun: Moyer Beats Pierce at Cedar Lake

Moyer Sweeps the Summer Nationals Weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway

moyercedarlake2NEW RICHMOND, Wis. – June 18, 2016 – It was a battle between the veteran Billy Moyer and young gun Bobby Pierce Saturday night at Cedar Lake Speedway, as Moyer swept the weekend’s Summer Nationals events at the track in New Richmond, Wis.

Moyer took the quick time earlier in the night and started on the feature pole with Pierce, who claimed the season’s first win at Kankakee County Speedway, on his outside. Pierce jumped out to an early lead and paced the field.

Jason Feger was charging though and caught the 19-year-old Pierce on lap 23. He edged Pierce on the next lap, but Pierce held on. It was Moyer’s turn next though and this time, Pierce was not able to hold on to the lead. The caution flew the next lap and Pierce tried to make a move on Moyer on the restart, but Moyer held tough through the remaining laps and claimed his 92nd career Summer Nationals victory and a $10,000 payday.

“We’ve been coming here for a long time and had a good handle on the place for a while but it kind of got away from us,” Moyer said. “We’ve been here and run but we just didn’t get the ‘w,’ so this this weekend, to win two of them in a row, is pretty neat.” (more…)
