Campbell Wins Bud St. Amant Memorial 125 at Columbus Motor Speedway

13524566_10153515423395981_6116167815700078621_n-800x415 Salem, IN (June 26, 2016) – For the second consecutive year Wyoming, Michigan veteran racer Brian Campbell won the Bud St. Amant Memorial 125 Presented by Oakley Blacktop and Sizzle Marine, Saturday night at Columbus Motor Speedway with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. The event honored local racing legend Bud St. Amant, who passed away in January, 2014 after a long bout with cancer. A large group of Bud’s family was on hand for the event, including son Gary St. Amant who presented Campbell with his winning trophy.

The JVM Racing promoted event was the last ARCA/CRA Super Series event that will be held at Columbus Motor Speedway, as the track has been sold and will close at the end of the 2016 season. The great group of fans attending the event got to watch a great race with plenty of passing throughout the field.

Three time series Champion Johnny Van Doorn started things off by setting fast time in EDCO Welding Qualifying. Van Doorn drew a seven for the invert putting series rookies Chris Koslek and Dalton Armstrong on the front row. Koslek took the early lead from his pole starting position and led the first eight laps before 2013 and 2014 series Champion Travis Braden powered by to take the lead from Koslek on lap nine while series points leader Cody Coughlin, Van Doorn and Campbell worked their way to the front of the field behind Braden and Koslek. Chad Kinder Claims Summit Modified Nationals Win at Fairbury

The Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Returns to Action Sunday at Tri-State Speedway

0fairbury-062516-515 FAIRBURY, Ill. – June 25, 2016 – Fairbury American Legion Speedway has been good to Chad Kinder during the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals and Saturday night was not any different as he cruised to his first tour win of the season and second at the track in two seasons.

Kinder started on the feature pole and had to contend with reigning Modified Nationals champion Mike Harrison and a hard-charging Justin Allgaier. Through the 25-lap feature though, Kinder held tough and claimed victory. The Newton, Ill.-native won the Modified Nationals feature at Fairbury in 2015 too.

Nick Hoffman, who leads the Summit Modified Nationals points and has three-wins on the season, closed out the night with a ninth place finish.

Brandon Sheppard Earns Hard Fought Fairbury Win

Pierce Continues to Expand His Summer Nationals Points Lead

0fairbury-062516-535 FAIRBURY, Ill. – June 25, 2016 – It was not an easy win, but Brandon Sheppard held tough and fought back challenges Saturday night at Fairbury American Legion Speedway to claim his first Summer Nationals victory of the season.

Sheppard started the feature on the outside pole with veteran Billy Moyer next to him. Moyer jumped out to an early lead. Sheppard got around him on lap three but Moyer battled back. He cruised through the next 20 laps with Sheppard glued to the high-side of the track and fighting to maintain his second place position, which he lost briefly at the midpoint of the feature.

Sheppard found another opening on lap 26 and held the top spot for two laps but Moyer again battled back to the lead. This time, Shannon Babb was on the move and took the top spot from Moyer – but again, only briefly. On a lap 35 restart, Sheppard, who at that point was in fourth, blasted forward retaking third from Jimmy Mars, then second from Moyer. Using that high line, Sheppard then fought past Babb to retake the lead.

It was smooth sailing to the end.

“I knew I just had to hit my marks and not bobble,” Sheppard said. “The cushion was like a one-foot brick wall all the way around the top. It was really hard. And the tire rule that we’re on, my left-rear (tire) would die after about five laps and I’d just have to run sideways all the way around the corner and hope not to push, because my right-front wouldn’t steer either. We just tried to hit our marks and keep everything together, and we did.” (more…)

Campbell’s Earn Desoto Enduro Sweep

richard champbell 1 SCOTT LOCKWOOD – Not even a two-month break could slow down Richard Campbell out of Sarasota for most of Saturday night’s action at Desoto Speedway.

If not for a broken axle, Campbell may have swept all three events in Desoto Speedway’s Enduro-style classes. Duane Campbell made sure that things would remain in the family, capping off a night of mayhem and destruction in Desoto Speedway’s summer Kid’s Night Out.

The Enduro cars kicked off the night with a 35-lap feature. Richard Campbell, driving a new car for the series, grabbed the lead at the standing start and took command of the race. He would dodge backmarkers – and crashed and broken down race cars – on his way to a flag-to-flag victory. Duane Campbell finished second, with Nick Draganov taking third. (more…)

Bloomquist Blossoms in Firecracker 100 finale

Overton Captures First Career Series Win in Preliminary

062516_Double_Lernerville_Finale SARVER, Pa. – June 25, 2016 – Scott Bloomquist battled from eighth position Saturday night to win the Firecracker 100 finale presented by GottaRace.com at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. Bloomquist collected his second World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series win of 2016, tangoing with both front-runners in the series and regional favorites alike.

Regional top-gun Dale McDowell began the 100-lap feature strong, as if his No. 17m Bad Boy Buggies/ University of Northwestern Ohio Warrior car was shot from a cannon. McDowell contested for the lead in the leading laps of the race, only to soon get the top spot on lap 17.

While McDowell held the No. 1 spot, three-time series champion Josh Richards consistently pursued the lead – diminishing the one-second intervals between them to less than half-of-a-second. Bloomquist bought his time in third after charging to the front from mid-pack. Not only did Richards close the gap between him and McDowell, but a caution on lap 23 included Bloomquist in a fight for first.

On a nearly perfect restart, Bloomquist overtook Richards in turn two. Richards soon reclaimed the spot, wedging his No. 1 Valvoline/ Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket car underneath Bloomquist. It was a happenstance five laps later when another caution gave Bloomquist the opportunity to throttle past Richards on the restart. Bloomquist’s No. 0 Crop Production Services / Reese Monument Co. Balog Bests Outlaws at Beaver Dam Raceway

Captures First Series Victory in Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial Presented by Karavan Trailers

062516_BeaverDam_edited-1 BEAVER DAM, Wis. – June 25, 2016 – Hartland, Wis. -native Bill Balog outdueled 2013 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion Daryn Pittman early, then held him off on a final green-white-checkered finish to capture his first series victory in the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers at Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday night.

Balog, who is only the fifth non-Outlaw driver to win in 2016, captured the lead from Pittman on lap three after starting the feature in the second position.

“Now I feel like I have a home track advantage,” Balog said as the Wisconsin fans cheered. “We have won a few here, but not really dominating wins. I got a lot of Wisconsin people here behind me, so I got to thank all of you guys.

“Maybe they didn’t think we could do it, but we did it and it’s an awesome, awesome night.”

Pittman, who was victorious in a green-white-checkered finish on Friday night at Jackson Motorplex, tried everything possible to muscle the victory away from Balog, but came up one spot short of claiming back-to-back victories.

“I gave everything I had,” Pittman said. “I had it all planned out perfectly in my head, but it didn’t go that way. Nothing went the way I thought; we had that red flag, and I think my tire went down a little bit…think if my tire was low enough, I probably could’ve stuck it, because after the checkered I hit it really good down there, but too little, too late.

“Congrats to Bill and his team, they did a great job and he ran a great race, so they deserve to win. I just needed to make some better decisions and get to the top of the track quicker and hang on to the lead a little longer.” (more…)

Doug Horton Prevails In Late Models At East Bay Raceway Park

Horton-winner-6-25-16-620x350 GIBSONTON — At East Bay Raceway it was Billy Dukes taking home the win in the Outlaw Fours, Michael Hart in the V8 Warriors, Doug Horton in the Late Models and Wayne Kissam in the 4 Cylinder Bombers.

In the 15-lap Outlaw Fours feature it was Billy Dukes making it two in a row winning with Cecil Martin coming home second and Greg Pae third.

In the V8 Warriors 15-lap feature it was Michael Hart picking up the win with Jeremy Simpson second and Jason Burnside bringing home third.

In the Late Model 30-lap feature it was Doug Horton picking up his second win of the year over second place Kyle Bronson and third place Kenny Monahan.

And in the final feature of the night it was the 4 Cylinder Bombers 15-lap feature as Wayne Kissam picked up the win with his brother Robert finishing in the second spot with Dave Wilber third.

Action continues this Thursday night as the 54-lap $5,400 to win for the Late Models in the Dalton Myers 54. Also racing will be the Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks and the 4 Cylinder Bombers. It will be a Special Event and the Grandstands open at 6:00 pm with the hot laps to begin around 7:00 and the action to begin after that. Clayton Miller Scores Summit Modified Nationals Win at Tri-City

The Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Returns to Action Saturday at Fairbury American Legion Speedway

0tricity-062416-1053 PONTOON BEACH, Ill. – June 24, 2016 – Clayton Miller, of Fredonia, Ky., cruised to his first DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals victory of the season.

Miller was on a roll throughout Friday night’s event as he cruised to a heat race win and started the feature on the outside pole next to Michael Long. Miller, who has been dominant at Clarksville Speedway this year, showed similar dominance at Tri-City as he jumped out to the lead early and led all 25-laps in the feature.

Long finished second with reigning Summit Modified Nationals champion Mike Harrison in third, Ray Walsh in fourth and Nick Hoffman in fifth.

Bobby Pierce Battles Billy Moyer for Tri-City

Pierce Adds to His Summer Nationals Points Lead

0tricity-062416-1038 PONTOON BEACH, Ill. – June 24, 2016 – Friday night’s Summer Nationals feature at Tri-City Speedway played out very similarly to Cedar Lake as Billy Moyer and Bobby Pierce battled it out for the win. This time though the young gun, Pierce, got the better of the veteran, Moyer, to score his fourth Summer Nationals victory of the season.

The two drivers started on the feature front row together and battled side-by-side through the opening laps. Pierce made his move for the lead on lap 10 and took it from the Hall of Famer. Pierce built up a strong lead through the remaining laps as Moyer worked to run him down, but, in the end, Moyer couldn’t catch the 19-year-old Pierce.

“You know, just growing up and watching Billy like that, I’ve always kind of wanted this race. You know, me and him – kind of just a duel match between me and him,” Pierce said. “When we drew the front row together, I was like, ‘all right, this could be my chance to race Billy, just me and and him,’ and hopefully try to beat him.”

With his $10,000 feature win, Pierce continues to add to his series points lead and Heartland Tour weekly championship lead. (more…)

Pittman Returns to Victory Lane at Jackson Motorplex

Scores Fifth Win of 2016 in the Series’ First Trip to the Track Since 2014

062416_Jackson JACKSON, Minn. – June 24, 2016 – 2013 World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series champion, Daryn Pittman, started on the pole position and captured the lead from Joey Saldana on lap two, then held off a hard-charging Kerry Madsen on a green-white-checkered finish to score his fifth victory of the season at Jackson Motorplex on Friday night.

Pittman, who also claimed the quick-time award and dash victory to complete the sweep of the night, joined 20-time series champion, Steve Kinser, and seven-time series champion, Donny Schatz, as the only drivers to win multiple races at Jackson after he also won in 2005.

“I wouldn’t say winning twice makes you good at a place,” Pittman said. “They don’t call him “Mad Man” for nothing. He’s earned his nickname and you know he is going to give it everything he’s got to try and get by you.

“I felt like I had a pretty good green flag lap up until coming back for the white. I slipped up a little bit in one and two and I thought I could hear him on my outside exiting two – I don’t know if he was there or not, but it sounded like he was pretty close.” (more…)
