SPRING VALLEY, MN – July 7, 2012 – Shane Clanton showed some true NAPA Know How on Saturday night at Deer Creek Speedway.

The standout driver from Fayetteville, Ga., made all the right moves in the final laps of the 33rd annual NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 Charity Late Model Race, holding off the two hottest drivers on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series to earn a thrilling victory before a standing-room-only crowd.

Clanton, 36, raced three-wide for the lead with Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., and Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., off turn two on the last lap before making a timely dive to the inside of the three-eighths-mile oval entering turn three, dulling his challengers’ momentum and preserving his first triumph of 2012 on the WoO LMS. Good Friends are Hard to Come By

By Scott McAllister

07/08/2012 – It has taken me a few days to come to grips with the fact I have lost another wonderful friend and companion. I initially met Terry Watson and his wife Mary when I was part of the S.A.R.A. racing series. We traveled many miles and to many tracks across the southeast, along with other dear friends Rick Day, Sheila & Ron Farris, Melanie & Rick Hall and of course Virginia Howell-Wright. As most racing fans and participants know, those type bonds grow extremely tight and no matter how long you go without seeing or chatting with them, they remain part of your “racing family.” (more…)

Fireworks and Fast Cars at Anderson Motor Speedway Marks PASS South Series’ Halfway Point of 2012 Season

Charlotte, NC 6/27/12– The PASS South Series drivers and teams now turn their attention to the Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, South Carolina the site of the next event on the series’ sixteen race schedule. The Firecracker 150 event on Tuesday July 3rd, celebrating the nation’s birthday, marks the halfway point of the series’ schedule so far in 2012. While some drivers are more than happy with their performances thus far this season and their positioning in the championship standings, other drivers hope that the abrasive Anderson Motor Speedway is the start of something better as the season hits the second half of the schedule.

Two drivers with an A+ grade at the halfway point of the season go to the two drivers tied for the top spot in the championship standings. Kyle Grissom and Brandon Ward are locked in a dead heat for first with 1262 championship points each. Neither Grissom nor Ward has ever raced Anderson behind the wheel of a super late model. This fact alone should make for an interesting race for both drivers come Tuesday night. (more…)
