NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR AUGUST 20
CARTERSVILLE, GA – The points battle for the $10,000 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Championship continues to tighten up after Week 21 competition, as Chase Washington of Houlka, MS has closed to within one point of Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA at the top of the points list.
Washington took his tenth win of the season on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO to net two points driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special. Back at Bristol… Cale Gale will return to Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway (“World’s Fastest Half-Mile”) for the third time in his career on Wednesday, August 22. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender has made one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and one NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at the World’s Fastest Half-Mile previously in his career. With each race resulting in a top-10 finish, Gale has completed every lap he attempted at the fast track with an average start of eighth, and an average finish of 6.5. In his most recent event at Bristol Motor Speedway, Gale sat on the pole and drove to a fourth-place finish in the August 2008 NNS race.
Charlotte, NC 8/20/12- The fans of the South Boston (VA) Speedway were treated to a barn burner of a race Saturday night as Kyle Grissom held off a hungry field of drivers to score his second win in a row and fourth of the season. Jody Lavender in his first start of 2012 rounded out the podium with his third place run.
The team went into this Friday night with high expectations given the recent performance of the car and Blaise’s experience in the Limited Late. First up was practice which once again was nothing more than running the track in and making sure everything was tight on the car.
