Last year’s VP Small Engine Fuels outside polesitterprepares for unpredictable Syracuse
WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – Super DIRTcar Series racer Billy Dunn is in the midst of one of his most successful seasons, and he believes he can achieve even more at NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week, Oct. 3-7, at the New York State Fairgrounds.
“We’re coming back with the same car this year, same motor, and I think if we can have the same speed and a little more luck on Sunday, we can hopefully be right there at the end of it,” Dunn said Tuesday during a conference call with media.

During last year’s event, Dunn raced to victory in the Safety-Kleen Shootout after a stunning performance in his Triple 20 placed him on the outside pole for the Big-Block Modified VP Small Engine Fuels 200. Dunn started strong in Sunday’s race, maintaining position in the top 10 for the first 50 laps, but placing 33rd after a collision with Larry Wight on lap 107. (more…)

(TOLEDO, Ohio) – Recently crowned ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup Series late model champion Dakota Carlson of Cedar Springs, Mich. has filed his entry for the 24th Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 super late model invitational Saturday, September 29 at Toledo Speedway. Carlson tuned up for the 200 by winning the 100-lap feature last Saturday night at Owosso Speedway in Michigan.
Citrus County Speedway fans saw the racing action crank up Saturday night with time trial qualifying for the Florida United Promoters Series late models. 21 of the states top drivers and cars all took the fastest of their two qualifying laps, to help determine their starting position for the 100 lap feature. When all was said and done, it was a familiar face sitting on top of the field. Daniel Webster (33) set the fast time for the 2nd FUPS race at Citrus in a row, followed by Jesse Dutilly (30), and Steve Dorer (10) in 3rd. The top 8 drivers in the series then redraw for their starting positions. With the help of some young speedway fans, Jonathan Guy (42) had his lucky fan pull the pole position. He would have 3rd fastest qualifier and series point leader Steve Dorer alongside for the green flag. Guy would lead the field to green, and win the drag race with Dorer to turn one, but caution would fly for the stalled car of Jake Perkins (59) on the backstretch, before the lap was completed. Perkins had battled ignition problems all day, and an electrical short ended his night before the race even got started.
