ARCA and CRA Announce Sanction Extension for 2013 Season

(WINCHESTER, Ind.) – Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and Champion Racing Association (CRA) announced today an extension of the formal working relationship between the two motorsports sanctioning bodies.

ARCA, currently concluding its 60th Anniversary Season, will sanction the racing activities for the ARCA CRA Super Series once again in 2013. The super late model stock car racing series, founded in 1997, is based in Salem, Ind. Today, Johnny VanDoorn will complete his first championship season under the ARCA and CRA partnership and his third in overall Super Series competition.

ARCA president and CEO Ron Drager noted the opportunity for continued growth and development as part of the extended partnership with CRA.

“This affiliation has been, right from the beginning, about two strong, stable racing companies joining forces to become even stronger and more stable,” Drager said. “As a sport, we need to continue to provide opportunities for drivers, owners, and crew members within auto racing, and support the developmental channels from grassroots to the top tier of the sport.” (more…)

Danny Johnson Charges to Third 358-Modified Series Win of Season

Planck finishes fifth at Brockville Ontario Speedway to garner series championship title

BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO – Oct. 14, 2012 – “The Doctor” Danny Johnson cruised to the front during Saturday’s DIRTcar 358-Modified Series finale at Brockville Ontario Speedway, avoiding several pile-ups and outlasting competition through a challenging 100 laps on his way to his third series win of the season.

“I’m very fortunate to have a great hotrod here at the end of the season,” said Johnson, of Rochester, N. Y. “It’s a phenomenal hotrod, that’s all I can tell you. It’s the same car that we ran here last year and won with, so it’s a proven piece for us.”

Johnson beat off Brett Hearn to take third at the green flag at Saturday’s afternoon 1000 Islands RV Fall Nationals race, but Hearn fought back after a pile-up in lap 3 involving Dexter Stacey, Michel Chicoine and Danny O’Brien brought the yellow. On the restart, Hearn powered ahead to second with Johnson still in third. Stephane LeFrance in the 115 car continued the lead he gained at the start. (more…)

Sides Captures First Outlaws Victory of Season at Spring Classic

Dollansky repeats as Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 champion in afternoon event

PEVELY, Mo. – Oct. 13, 2012 – Jason Sides crawled from his sprint car with an exhausted – and thrilled – look on his face.

Reeling from the passing of a close friend earlier this week, Sides carried a heavy heart into Saturday’s World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series doubleheader at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 – the culmination of a pair of rainouts earlier this season.

And after a total 95 green-flag feature laps on the high-banked track on a humid and windy Midwest day, Sides captured the Spring Classic after recording a third-place finish in the Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 presented by Summit Distributing/Coors Light in the afternoon.

“I had Mark Hardee riding with me,” Sides said. “It wasn’t his time to go, but the cancer got him and we hate that. He’ll be with us a lot in our hearts and everything, so hopefully we’ll get us a couple more wins with him riding with us.” (more…)

LeBrun Wins Pro Stock Series Finale at Brockville

Reigning champ Ladouceur takes another title, his last before moving to Sportsman division

BROCKVILLE, ONTARIO – Oct. 13, 2012 – Friday’s Pro Stock Series 50-lap finale at Brockville Ontario Speedway took Stephane LeBrun to Victory Lane and brought Joey Ladouceur his third series championship title, his last before moving on to the Sportsman division.

LeBrun, of Gatineau, Quebec, started second in the grid and charged ahead at the green flag, maintaining his lead through four cautions and fending off challenges from Ladouceur and Ghislain Valade.

“I feel very happy,” the French-speaking LeBrun said through a translator. “The car was running good, I thank my pit crew and my family for everything, and Brockville for having this.”

But as far as the series was concerned, LeBrun’s win was no match for Ladouceur’s ample point lead and, finishing second, Ladouceur was able to stay ahead of the pack. Rob Yetman, who trailed Ladouceur by 35 points, finished seventh, and Jocelyn Roy, 97 points behind the leader, finished ninth. (more…)
