The pro truck invade Auburndale Speedway this Saturday night for the first points race of the season, and the ownership has stepped up and increased the purse this season. ( purse posted on Auburdale speedway facebook page). The pro trucks always put on an awesome show as the go side by side battling it out for 50 exciting laps on the Bull Ring. Also joining the pro trucks will be the Scramblers, mini cups, strictly stocks, and mod mini’s. Be sure and make your plans now to attend Auburndale speedway this weekend.

Saturday night was one for the memory books for many involved in racing as Chad Rutherford parked his Tommy Styer scheme in victory lane for the first time!! Since the unexpected death of Tommy, Chad had even more of a desire to win one for his best buddy. There was not a dry eye in the place seeing that car in Victory Lane.
If you don’t know Chad Rutherford, he is one of the nicest in the pit area with huge roots in our race. Hialeah was well represented in Victory Lane photos.
To quote Ronnie Bacelo ” To say I’m beyond proud is an understatement. This young man I have watched from a young kid to the stand up man he is today. Chad Rutherford has followed in his father’s footsteps for years chasing his racing dreams. There isn’t another guy in the pits with more of a big heart than this guy, Chad would and has helped alot of people in and out of racing. To watch him win his first sportsman race last night was beyond awesome. To see all the old Hialeah Speedway racers that I grew up watching be a part of it made it that much more special. Donnie Rutherford, Jimmy Bilton, John Wilson, Joe Winchell, Danny Quinones just to name a few. The hard work and never give up attitude showed last night, Chad took his battered up machine from deep in the field and scored the 100 lap race. To say I wasn’t a little emotional would be a lie. Congratulations to Chad Pierce, Sean Bass and everyone back at the shop, you guys bust your asses and it shows. I know for a fact Tommy Styer was smiling down from up above and is super proud as well.”

To quote teammate Joe Winchell “Chad cares more about others having a good time than himself. I’m very proud of him and even more proud that he schooled me on that restart for the win…. I could go on all night about him”

Kicked off there season at 4-17 Southern Speedway Saturday night. This is the class where the cars are the Stars as these old time race cars keep making laps and sharing the memories of the past.

Jesse Dutilly takes the win in the Leroy Davidson Memorial at 4-17 Southern Speedway. Jesse broke his own track record with a blistering lap of 14.444. He would start 8th after the invert and worked his way through the field to take the lead from Dylan Bigley with about 30 to go.

A huge shout out of appreciation to Chris n Laurie Thornton on another great Super Mini Late Model Florida Championship race honoring one of Florida’s best- Rick Sirmans. The dedication to the drivers experience and details proved the time and effort that was put into another amazing event. I know you both prefer to remain in the shadows, echoing the genuine people you are. But this is one day that you deserve high honor and appreciation for all you do.

Drivers and Fans: The elementary school, that Lacey & Elyse teach at, is having their Annual “Wheel Deal Contest”. All children at East Elementary will receive raffle tickets for reading specific books then taking a test – and getting a passing grade. At the end of February – the winners will be drawn and will receive new bikes. Last year 4-17 Southern Speedway donated numerous bikes. Can you please help these deserving children? Some of the recipients last year had never had a bike of their own…ever. If you can donate a NEW UNUSED bicycle, or money to purchase a bicycle – please bring them to the track no later than February 22nd. Your help and generosity is much appreciated. For those asking “Who is Lacey & Elyse?” – Lacey is Joe & Janet’s daughter, and both young ladies teach at the school and work in the beer shack serving you ice cold beers on Saturdays.
