Team Car Warz Has Smash Hit at Holland, New York

by Team Car Warz Media (Jane Smith)

Holland, New York (September 13, 2010)  With a record crowd of 7500 people and over 125 cars in the pits, Team Car Warz made the night one not to forget anytime soon.
“This was our last appearance in 2010 at Holland and we could not have asked for a better night,” said Don Nerone, Owner and Promoter for Team Car Warz.  “It could not have been a better night for the fans with perfect fall New York weather.   Mid 70’s greeted the fans as they came in for the night’s show and that is exactly what they got, a GREAT show.”
“With 125 cars in the pits, there was no lack of excitement for the fans or the drivers.  We look at Holland as our second home and look forward to returning next spring and fall”.
Team Car Warz now heads back to Florida for their final show of the 2010 season, and first one on dirt, at Ocala Speedway on September 24th, a Friday night.    Events for that night will be announced shortly.

Weiners and Sprints Highlight VSP Action This Saturday

by VSP Media

BARBERVILLE, FL- After the weather forced a postponement last month, long anticipated Weiner Nationals will come to Volusia Speedway Park this Saturday, September 18th, bringing a solid field of the fastest dachshunds in the region to sprint to the finish on the VSP frontstretch.  In addition to the running of the weiner dogs, the south’s fastest half mile will welcome back the Top Gun Sprint Car Series with alcohol fueled, high horsepowered, winged madness, and pay $1000 to the winner of the Taylor Racing Products Sportsman race. The Budweiser Modifieds and the Daytona Sportswear Street Stocks will round out this Saturday’s racing action.

The Top Gun Sprint Car Series brings together the top names in regional 360 sprint car racing to the fastest dirt track in the region, and with a points race that is currently locked in a dead heat, this race will mean everything toward who comes out on top in the series points championship.  Danny Martin won in July when the Top Guns last challenged Volusia’s clay, but Ryan Partin and Tim George are racing for the points lead as 2010 winds down, and this race is the next best opportunity to do something about it.

Twenty-two cars took the green flag last Saturday night in the tune up for this week’s Taylor Racing Products Sportsman $1000 to win feature, but points leader Aaron Barsness was a no show at the checkered flags.  Despite the failure to finish on Saturday, Barsness has a 98 point advantage on the new second place runner, Steve Shead, and 108 points on Sorrento’s Matt McGillivray.  And while that margin may look safe at this point in the season, being overly conservative can sometimes put one at risk just as easily as going for the win.  Barsness will be looking to get back on track and collect the big check this weekend, plus seal the deal on a season championship as well.

The Budweiser Modifieds had a week off to lick their wounds after Jeff Mathews outran a hard charging Garret Stewart the last time out.  Stewart is surging after any and everything that could go wrong, went wrong for him over the course of the season.  Stewart’s troubles have toughened him, and he is set to challenge Mathews or anyone else who gets in his way.  Jamie Carter still has the points lead despite Mathews’ best efforts, as Carter found himself outside of the top five while Mathews was scoring a win.  So Carter will be looking to protect his status while Stewart will be looking to avenge last week’s failure to keep Mathews at bay, and Mathews will be gunning for another win.

Kevin Durden won the last outing for the Daytona Sportswear Street Stocks at Volusia Speedway Park back on July 24th, so the racers are ready to race the rust off this Saturday night and maybe shake up the points battle a little.  Philip Brown is maintaining his points lead over Tim Hughes by 71, but a bad night could put a serious dent in that pad should bad luck happen to come his way.  But Brown has been getting plenty of seat time by racing with the Amsoil Thunder Stocks, so he will be more than ready to turn it loose this Saturday night.

Volusia Speedway Park will welcome the fans into the grandstand gate this Saturday at 5:30PM with heat races scheduled to go green at 7:30PM.  The Wiener Nationals will take place during the intermission after heat races, and dachshund owners who wish to race their pooches should contact Volusia Speedway Park for more information.  And to check out the updated racing schedule, plus see admission prices and directions to the track, please visit www.VolusiaSpeedwayPark.net.

MIKE SMITH, JAMES WRIGHT III, CHRIS ZIMMERMAN & JOSH BOREM BEAT THE RAIN AT AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY

by Dave Westerman

When you race stock cars in Florida you know you’ll have to deal every so often with Mother Nature. The only questions are when will it rain, for how long and how hard. The wet stuff held off Saturday night at Auburndale Speedway just long enough for almost the entire show to be completed. Unfortunately the Mini Stock and Scrambler feature races fell victime to a brief, but fairly heavy shower just shy of 10PM. Before that, fans were treated to four very good feature races plus a vehicle extrication demonstration by Polk County Fire and EMS on “First Responders Night.”

The Auburndale Trucks were back in action but lost two teams early on in practice as the transmission went south on J.R. Garcia’s truck during the first practice session. Young Jason Rosarius found that his crew had installed an incorrect rear end in his truck and he too found his machine in the trailer way too early. (more…)

Campi Wins Hoosier Elite Series Late Models

 By Rick Anges

Bradenton, Fl. Rain delayed the start of ASA sanctioned racing at the High Banks of DeSoto Super Speedway for just over an hour. The hard working track crew got the track dry and after a short practice session qualifying was under way for the Hoosier Elite Series Late Models.

Jeff Scofield would set down the fastest lap piloting the 92 machine of Dick Anderson with a 14.739 circuit around the 3/8-mile oval. Behind Scofield would be Joe Boyd 14.777, Anthony Campi 14.779, Tim Russell 14.791 and Steve Dorer 14.801 for the top five. (more…)

Weather and Gremlins Fail to Stop VSP’s Racers

by VSP Media

BARBERVILLE, FL-  The racers and fans at Volusia Speedway Park showed their dedication and loyalty on Saturday night as showers and nearby lightning, followed by an electrical glitch, caused a great deal of “hurry up and wait” and caused track officials to scrap heat racing and opt for a “features only” format.  And those who waited saw a moving tribute on the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, then were treated to quite a spectacle as the Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Late Models, the Taylor Racing Products Sportsman Division, the Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants Thunder Stocks, and the 4 Cylinder Challengers, all took to the famous Barberville clay.  All first place finishers in Volusia’s regular divisions got a bonus $100 certificate to spend as they please from Gary Yeoman’s Performance Parts, plus their regular winnings. And in addition to regular racing, fans saw four divisions from the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association challenge the south’s fastest half mile and wind out their vintage machines. (more…)

Rains Stop East Bay on 9-11

By:  Larry Jewett

9/11/2010

An afternoon rain led to a one-hour delay for the start of the East Bay action on Saturday, September 11. The delay proved to be the harbinger of what was ahead as rain showed up after five heat races were completed, canceling the rest of the night’s action.

The Gagel’s Auto Parts Open Wheel Modifieds were able to complete a pair of heats, won by Roger Crouse and John Bradley. Three Precision Kia Street Stock races brought wins for Jarod Gay, Thomas Pratt and Garry Sheffield. Heavy rains with lightning brought the checkered flag on the rest of the action.

ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, September 18, 2010.  Action for Racecar Engineering Late Models, Q Auto & Injury Attorney Limited Late Models, Outlaw 4s and motorstats.com 4 cylinder Bombers will fill the bill. For more information, go to www.eastbayracewaypark.com or call the track office.
