from C.A.R.S. Racing for a Cause Inc.

Orlando FL – December 15, 2010 – Following the announcement that the PRI show would be moved 1 week earlier in 2011 with December 1st – the 3rd as its date. The announcement is made that the Charity 200 weekend would remain on the same weekend, as this year, in 2011 which will be December 9th & 10th.

” We were pleased to see the PRI date announced already, this will allow us to secure our same dates and begin the plans for 2011. We are planning to juice this deal up a bit in 2011, we have several ideas being worked on and we want to always try to mix it up, make adjustments so it does not become stale. We will make some major announcements in early 2011 on some changes in the format, divisions and more.

” We will review the video and listen to the different complaints and ideas given this year. I try to listen every year and I have changed a few procedures to try to accommodate these things and we will look at that again. I always want the drivers, crews, officials and fans to know that I consider what they have to say and will always consider it when we plan the race weekend” stated Bristol.

Needmore Speedway to open on Saturday

The Moultrie Observer

Edited by John Berti

MOULTRIE, GA —July 29, 2010 — Chris Hunnicutt was not much into racing as a youngster and says he went to “maybe two or three races when I was growing up.”

But Hunnicutt is into racing a big way now as he prepares for the grand opening of his Needmore Speedway on Saturday.

The 3/8-mile, 90-foot wide banked dirt oval is located at 1060 John Vickers Road in Norman Park just 7 miles West of I-75 off Exit 49.

If the number of cars that competed at the practice races the last two Saturdays is an indication, Hunnicutt should have a good turnout.

“We had between 60 and 70 car the last two weeks,” Hunnicutt said Thursday morning as he continued to get ready for Saturday’s races. “And I think about 80 percent of the ones last week were different. (more…)

by John Berti

Mike Nasworthy #0 and Dave Barber, Jr. #56 get crossed up as Justin Tilton #49 motors by.

Lake City, FL – A good field of 23 United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series competitors invaded the 3/8 mile North Florida Speedway oval for the first leg of the Sunoco Chase for the Cup, Saturday night.

In attendance were the North points leader Ivedent Lloyd and Mark Whitener, the South points leader. Overall point leader Tyler Ivey was, surprisingly, not in attendance. Nonetheless many of the top UDLMS drivers participated in the event including such prominent names as Keith Nosbisch, Darrell Padgett, Mike Nasworthy, John Kellum and Johnny Collins.

Qualifying was determined through qualifying heats which were made up from time trials held earlier in the evening. Heat winners were Nosbisch, Patrick Williams, and Jason Davis. Misfortune struck Collins in the first qualifying heat as his car broke while leading forcing him to the sidelines for the remainder of the night. (more…)

Kirkpatrick dazzles at New Smyrna, but Mother Nature’s drizzle ultimately won.

By John Berti

New Smyrna, FL -July 1, 2010. Austin Kirkpatrick dazzled a field of 29 Sunoco Florida All Star Tour Super Late Models in qualifying for the 12th Annual Clyde Hart Memorial 100 at New Smyrna Speedway, Thursday evening.

The 17 year old high school junior, at the wheel of the Sonny’s Bar-B-Q #85 Chevrolet, set fast time of the day with a lap around the ½ mile high banked, paved oval in 17.589 seconds.

Another surprise was the fine qualifying time turned in by track regular, Ben Kennedy, who set the second fastest time with a circuit at 17.643 seconds.

Super late model household names finished out the top five qualifiers as follows: B.J. McCleod, 17.664; Wayne Anderson, 17.719; and Jeff Scofield, 17.768.

The stage was set for promising battle between the new wave, young guns of Super Late Model racing and. the wily veterans later on in the evening. Too bad for all that Mother Nature had to step in with rain and in the end it was drizzle that beat out dazzle with the ultimate cancellation of the Clyde Hart Memorial 100 until Saturday, September 4, 2010.

The open wheel modifieds had taken to the track for their 50 lap feature when it began to sprinkle. The sprinkle quickly turned to steady rain which pelted the track forcing a determined track management to end the night’s competition.
