Orlando FL 12-12-11 – Today the Florida United Pro-Truck Series has been announced. The series director will be Rick Bristol and the races are a cooperative effort between Auburndale Speedway, Citrus County Speedway and DeSoto Super Speedway. There is also a deal in the working stages to bring the trucks to the 2.25 mile short course at Sebring International Speedway late in the year as part of the Bobby Rahal Legends of Motorsports event sponsored by Alan Jay Automotive Network.
” While we have had some disappointments with a few tracks deciding not to be a part of the series, we really feel like we have a firm foundation to have this series. We have three tracks and owners or managers that want to make it work and are helping to make it a reality. I want to bring a fun, competitive, affordable and fair series to the drivers. My goal is to promote the series working with companies in the areas of the tracks, getting them involved with truck displays, give always and more. The series drivers and tracks need to work together to make this work for everyone” stated Bristol.
“We are working on a couple deals for title sponsorships and feel we can put something good together to announce in early January. We are finalizing the rules, we had a bit of a set back with a couple tracks backing out, so we want to be sure we make the rules where we do not cause more of a division in the trucks while still getting back to firm, fair rules that cut costs for the drivers. We will have a tire limit rule for the series, teams will be allowed to buy 4 tires at the first race, they must be purchased from the track the day of the race so they can be logged. Each race after that drivers can only purchase two tires and they must be purchased the day of the race, again for logging purposes. This will keep the costs down for drivers to compete and race each event. There are several other things being looked at rules wise to tighten things up and save money”.

May 19th – Citrus County Speedway 50 Laps
June 2nd – DeSoto Super Speedway 50 Laps
June 30th – Auburndale Speeday 50 Laps
(No races in July and August to try to avoid rain outs, saving drivers fuel, travel etc.)
September 8th – Citrus County Speedway 50 Laps
October 13th – DeSoto Super Speedway 50 Laps
November 10th – Citrus County Speedway 50 Laps
December 1st – Sebring Int’l Speedway TBA – Not Confirmed yet
December 8th – Auburndale Speedway 50 Laps
Base Purse by Tracks
1. 750 2. 500 3. 400 4. 300 5. 275 6. 250 7. 225 8. 200 9. 175 10. 150 11. 125 12. 100 13. 90 14. 80 15-field 75.
$50 Entry Fee per race. Trying to get sponsors to supplement this with more start money.
You are asked if you use racing fuel to support the track we are going to by getting it there.
Point System
1. 24, goes down 1 point per position to 24th who gets 1. Any trucks finishing 25 back get 1 point as well.

Rick will be working to gather award and bonus money sponsors for each race on the series. If you can give ideas of some people in the area of these tracks that might help sponsor the race, have a display at their location or help us promote the series please let Rick know.
To be eligible for any point fund money gathered, you must run a minimum of 70% of the races on the series. Beginning as soon as the final rules are released, we will begin to register drivers for the series. We will announce final rules, sponsors and any other info as soon as possible.
” This is not perfect, it is not all that I wanted it to be, but it is a great step in the right direction and I can only promise the drivers I will work hard to make the series better each race, promoting the series and it’s drivers to the best of my ability. I also want to have some raffle drawings at the event, each driver puts in so much, we then draw a winner or two for a portion of the pot. There are many things we can do as a series to make it fun for everyone. I hope the drivers will like it, support it and give it a chance” ended Bristol.
There will be a rookie of the year program, they will have the eligibility requirements for that out soon as well.
