WHEEL, TN – Duck River Raceway Park will have a new management team in place for the July 3 Independence Shootout featuring a $3,000-to-win Super Late Model race. Central Tennessee promoters Michael Luna and Scott Shelton, both of Sparta, TN will take over the promotional reigns for the July 4th Holiday Weekend event.
Luna and Shelton have been promoting Crossville Speedway in Crossville, TN during the 2016 racing season with successful results. They have become well-known for giving race fans an entertaining evening of dirt track racing in a timely manner, and having the racing program completed well before Midnight.
“Scott Shelton and I are delighted that Duck River Raceway Park Owner Bob Harris has given us this opportunity,” Michael Luna said. “Duck River Raceway Park is both a competitor and fan friendly facility. If we can make the Independence Shootout on July 3 a success, we may be in a position to promote more shows at Duck River Raceway Park in 2016.”
Also on the July 3 racing program at Duck River Raceway Park along with the $3,000-to-win Super Late Model race will be a $1,200-to-win race for the Crate Late Models, the Open-Wheel Modifieds will race for $800-to-win, a $600-to-win race for the Street Stocks, the Mini Stocks/Pony Stocks will race for $500-to-win and a $300-to-win race for the Dwarf Cars.
There will be a $100 Entry Fee for the Super Late Model competitors, and the Super Late Model Tire Rule will be open fronts, Hoosier 1350s, 1600s, LM 20s and LM 40s on the rear, and American Racer 48s or 56s on the rear. The Tire Rule for the Crate Late Models is open fronts, and any tire punching 60 or harder in the rear.
The Open-Wheel Modified Tire Rule is Hoosier AS40 or harder, and American Racer H or harder. The Street Stocks will run under NeSmith Rules with an additional option of an American Racer approved tire to be announced. The Mini Stock/Pony Stock and Dwarf Car rules will be Duck River Raceway Park rules.
On Sunday, July 3, the Grandstand and Pit Gates at Duck River Raceway Park will open at 4 p.m., with pre-race Registration from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The Drivers Meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp, and Hot Laps will begin at 6:45 p.m.
