WAYCROSS, GA (January 29, 2014) – Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are excited to head to the sunshine state of Florida again this year for its second stop of the 2014 season. The stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will travel to East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida for the 38th Annual Winternationals at the famed “Clay by the Bay” for a week of action-packed events in early February.
Officials of East Bay Raceway park have been steady working on the facilities and the track itself in preparations for this years events. New clay has been added to the racing surface combined with a racer friendly tire rule put in place by the LOLMDS, fans are sure to see some thrilling racing all week long. The Winternationals, held at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL will consist of an open practice on Sunday, February 9th, from 6PM to 9PM and six full nights of racing, from February 10th through 15th. Each day, the Drivers Meeting will be at 5:15PM (ET), Hot Laps will begin at 6:00PM, and racing will begin at 7:00PM.
The Winternationals will offer racers over $200,000 in purse money over the six nights of events. Two additional starting positions will also be added to each night’s feature event, giving 26 drivers a chance to earn a coveted Winternationals feature win. The 25th starting position will go to the driver that fails to transfer into the feature event through the heat races or B-mains and who was the fastest in qualifying among those drivers. The 26th starting position will go to the winner of the DirtonDirt.com Strawberry Dash each night.
East Bay Raceway Park officials have added two Non-Qualifier Races to the schedule of events for Friday and Saturday Feb 14th and 15th. Racers that fail to transfer to the feature event on those nights will compete in a Non-Qualifiers race that will pay $500 to the winner and $100 to start for each of those two nights.
History will be made on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at East Bay Raceway Park when the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will air LIVE on the MAVTV Network at 9:30 PM EST. The 38th Annual Winternationals at EBRP has a long tradition of producing some exciting finishes on the extremely racy ¼ mile bull ring. This monumental event for the LOLMDS is sure to draw a huge television audience from around the country. MAVTV has signed renowned motor racing broadcaster, Dave Despain to host the LIVE event. Lucas Oil Production Studios will film Friday and Saturday’s events at EBRP for a tape-delayed broadcast on the MAVTV American Real Network, later this year.
East Bay Raceway Park has also partnered with the online website www.xsan.tv to provide Live coverage of the Winternationals through a Pay Per View Broadcast. Fans can tune in for five of the six nights, Feb 10,11th, 12th, 14th and 15th at www.eastbayracewaypark.com and click on the Pay Per View Link on the tracks website to order each nights broadcast.
