CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are 12 races in eight different states on the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 11 schedule of events. After taking a week of competition off, teammates Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS and Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS will be resuming their battle for the point lead.
NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 11 competition begins on Friday night with races at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR and Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS.
Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 11 races will be held at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
Arnold leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 435 points, and holds an eight point lead over his Billy Riels Racing teammate Daspit, who has 427 points in the third spot. Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is third with 398 points, and Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is fourth with 391 points.
Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, the third Billy Riels Racing driver in the top five of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings is fifth with 379 points. Lee will be returning to weekly competition after running the last two weeks with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division, where he is eighth in points.
Behind the Top 5 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings, there is a logjam of drivers tightly bunched in points. Just 14 points separate sixth from tenth in the point standings, and only 30 points separate sixth through 15th. As close as the points are, there could be some new names in the Top 10 after Week 11 competition.
Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 334 points, and Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is seventh with 327 points. Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA is eighth with 325 points and Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS is ninth with 325 points. Three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS rounds out the top ten with 320 points.
Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29.
The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.
The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.
