Mooresville, NC 8/13/12– Texas super late model racers Trey Mitchell is really hoping that good things happen to those who wait as he and his team lead by crew chief Gary Crooks prepare for this weekend’s PASS South Southern Virginia 150 at the South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virginia. Mitchell, who has spent the last several months on the sidelines due to a blown engine in his last outing at the Milwaukee Mile in the ASA Midwest Series Howie Lettow Memorial 150 back in June, will be making just his third start behind the wheel of his #47 machine so far in 2012.

The UNC-Charlotte senior kicked off his 2012 season with a bang finishing third at the always tough PASS South Easter Bunny 150 at the Hickory Motor Speedway in April. That stellar run lead to Mitchell being tapped by Wes Gonder Racing to drive in two Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series events at Hickory and Ace Speedway. A pair of top five finishes was the result including another podium finish at Hickory two weeks removed from his finish there in his own super late model. A run at the Milwaukee Mile opened many eyes as Mitchell qualified eighth and ran as high as fourth with less than fifty laps to go before a blown motor ended his night early on what could have been a career night.

As result of the unexpected blown motor it forced Mitchell to skip his next schedule super late model event as the PASS South tour headed to Radford, Virginiafor the Motor Mile 150 at Motor Mile Speedway. With the calendar having hit two full months from the his last racing Trey is ready to get back to racing at this weekend’s PASS South Southern Virginia 150 with an all new Hamner super late model spec engine and a strong setup by Gary Crooks that won fellow Crooks Racing customer Landon Cling his first super late model win at the same track on June 9th.

“I was really thinking that with the way we started out the year with the good runs I was having in both the super car and pro cup machine that my luck had finally changed. Then we go toMilwaukeeand having an awesome race and the motor let’s go on us which just killed our initial plans to go to Motor Mile,” stated Mitchell, when discussing this year so far. “Now we have some Hamner horsepower under the hood and I know a good setup heading toSouth Bostonwhich for some reason is a track I really enjoy. I don’t know if it’s because I actually like the place or because we run so good there that I like racing at SoBo. Regardless I’m excited about getting back behind the wheel and have some high expectations for the race.”

Practice for the PASS South Southern Virginia 150 kicks off Saturday August 18th at 2pm, with series qualifying to follow at 4:30pm. After a brief on track autograph session theSouthern Virginia 150 takes the green flag at 7pm for 150 laps of short track racing action.
