Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds return as do the Top Gun Sprint Cars, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks, Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. Six of the toughest divisions at Bubba Raceway Park will attack the track and run for more of those valuable points and the $1000 prize on Night Of A Thousands!
Kyle Bronson’s winning streak went up in a cloud of smoke. A pretty big cloud too. Bronson holds a 15 point lead over Rich Pratt and hopes to build upon it while Pratt looks to steal some momentum from his strong run in the Late Model and maybe get that first win of 2012 and end the Hammond Motorsports reign. Jim Passino is 3rd and has shown the speed needed to win; a little luck and he could join the list of winners as could 4th place Scott Mooers. Even 5th place Dalton Lanich could break into victory lane as he nearly has the past few weeks. The Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds will be fast and the winner’s list could grow longer.
The very creative Matt Kurtz led 1 lap and added to his win total with a daring pass on Gene Lasker on a restart. Danny Martin, Jr. has done it all now as he flipped his #82 in turn 1; he set a record for quickest driver out of a flipped car proving Martin is fast anywhere. Martin and Kurtz will put on a fantastic race while drivers like Mark Ruel, Jr., Terry Witherspoon, and AJ Maddox look to join them and beat them out for a celebration in victory lane!
Hobby Stock drivers have put on some fantastic shows recently but Rodney Wright has won the last 2. He’ll look to go 3 while points leader Trevor Gamble looks to build upon his 14 point lead over Wright. Brian Shea is giving chase and 56 isn’t too much but the chase begins now and race wins will help him get there quickly. Tim Gay and Mark Maresca, coming off of his 2nd place finish, round out the top 5. A strong field of Hobby Stocks means any one can win and surprises are rare.
The 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks are so competitive that the last 6 races have seen 6 different winners from 6 different teams and a 7th wouldn’t be surprising. Points leader Jonathan Appleby finally got that first trophy after a run that he finally deserved. The 2 car Appleby-Winne Racing Team looks to add to the win list and to the points lead. As he looks to add to his points lead Brian Mullins, winless still, looks to chase which is something he’s been good at; Mullins has passed more cars than any other driver in the division it seems and 2nd in points has been his reward. Jason Gamble and Shane Nichols are 3rd and 4th over 60 points out. They both have wins and could add to their own totals but both have team-mates they’re trying to help win as well. Justin Durbin is 5th but the points don’t tell the whole story; he’s been fast and a win is closer than many might expect. Chad Scranton, the only 3 time winner so far, has found himself a secondary ride as Gamble’s team-mate for Eddie Tillander; Mark Trexler and Eddie Kilbury, Jr. also have wins and could add to their totals at any time.
Barfield Law Group Mini Stock drivers will battle again while Buddy Pope looks to hold onto his points lead. As he rebuilds his #81 Reid Christensen, the Staats family, Nick Kerr, Kyle Kruse, and Shirlene Hammond look to join the action. These 7 have been fast and have shown that anything is possible.
The 4 car battle was worth more than $1000 when Tony LaPorta, Billy Holmes, Reid Christensen, and Brandon Haseleu fought for 8 laps. This time the prize is there and the action will be even closer. LaPorta leads the standings while Steve Johnson and Randy Harless chase. These 3 have won already while 4th place Reid Christensen looks to regain his late 2011 form. Brandon Haseleu is 5th and he’s ready to win on the big stage and it could happen very soon and $1000 would make it a dream for the young Groveland driver.
Pits open at 4 while grandstands open at 5 with racing at 7. For more information on Night Of A Thousands you can check out www.bubbaracewaypark.com or call the Speedway hotline!
