Citrus County Speedway will be having a race car show in downtown Inverness on 10/9 at City hall, located at 212 W. Main St in Inverness. The car show will start at 10am and run until 2pm. You must drop your car off in town, and then return your trailer to the speedway, there is no place to park your trailers downtown. At 2pm all cars will receive a police escort to the race track from downtown. Yes, you will be able to driver your race cars down the street to the speedway.

This is a great, cost free, opportunity for you to get some exposure for yourself and Citrus County Speedway. All drivers who bring their cars will receive one free pit pass for participating. We have 25 spots reserved and need a nice cross section of cars from every division. If you’re interested, call (352) 726-9339 or sign up at the speedway office on a race night.

Protest changes:

We have had a major problem during protests with drivers, fans, and crew members entering the tech area when they should not be in the tech area at all. So moving forward these rules will be strictly enforced during a track or driver protest.

The first thing we will clarify is where the tech area begins and ends. The Tech area begins at the scale house gate door and extends all the way around to the pit office wall. At no time should anyone be anywhere in this area, during a protest, with out permission of a speedway official. That means if you have a foot on the concrete slab in the scale house, you’re in the tech area. Gate closed or gate open, it doesn’t matter. This also means that if anyone is past the end of the wall located right behind the pay out window, you’re in the tech area. There’s a chain at the end of that wall for a reason, it means do not enter. If you have any questions about this, please see a track official to help you understand these areas, ignorance will not be an excuse.

PROTESTING DRIVER:

The protesting driver and one person of their choice will be the only ones allowed in the tech area for their protest. The same two people must remain in the tech area the whole time, no switching out of members. Depending on the nature of the protest, the protesting driver will be required to remain in the scale house until the protested parts are brought in for inspection. If an item on the car needs to be inspected by the protesting driver, the tech officials will escort you to the car for your inspection. At no time should the protesting driver be around the protested car, unless escorted by a tech official.

If at anytime during the protest, a crew member, family member, or fan that the track deems to be associated with the protesting driver enters the tech area the protest will be over. The protesting driver will lose all money put up for the protest, and the car being protested will be deemed legal. The tech man will retain 20% as usual, and the rest of the money will be given to the protested driver.

PROTESTED CAR:

The protested car will be allowed the driver and two other helpers in for the protest. The same two helpers must remain in the tech area for the duration of the protest. If a crew member, family member, or fan that the track deems to be with the protesteded driver enters the tech area the protest will be over. The protested car will be found illegal, the tech man will retain 20% of the protest money as usual, and the balance will be returned to the protesting driver.

Anyone found entering the tech area with out the permission of a track official, and is deemed by the track to have no involvement with either driver, will be fined $100.

It is your responsibility to know and follow these rules, ignorance will not be an excuse. The tech man has a job to do, and it is not crowd control. You will not be warned, if you are caught violating these rules by any track official, these are the consequences that you must face. The track will use it’s own judgment when deciding who is associated with who in the tech area.

REMINDER ABOUT PREVIOUS CHANGES:

Last week at the drivers meeting, there were between 12-17 drivers that attended. We had around 70 cars in the pits, not including the late models which had a separate meeting. Drivers meetings are a mandatory part of the evening, you know that they take place around 5:15 every race night. There are things that I talk about almost every week in the meetings that no one pays attention to, so I can only assume that you are not there or do not care.

So starting on 8/21, we will be having a roll call for 1 random class at the drivers meeting each week. If you are not in attendance, or do not send a representative to attend the meeting, you will be forced to start in the rear of the feature for that night. The only acceptable excuses for not attending would be car problems, medical emergencies, ect. And even then, you need to have someone there for roll call. This way there will be no reason anyone should say ” I didn’t know”.

Citrus County Speedway has been listening to what you are saying, and is trying to take the steps to make the races the best they can be. We are looking forward to another exciting night this weekend, and we hope to see all of you there. Good Luck and Good Racing.
