Ocala Speedway has a huge night of action this Friday with the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association coming to town while the Colortyme Open-Wheel Modifieds, Tee Pee Tire Hobby Stocks, Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks which will be attempting to win the $1000 prize, and the Gladiators will all run to gain ground in their title chases.
The Colortyme Open-Wheel Modifieds have had an exciting season where a driver just picks up and dominates. Jeff Mathews dominated through most of the summer, but the last 2 races have seen Kyle Bronson win and that has kept Mathews’ lead at 43 points. A winner this season already, Wayne Hammond will keep Bronson on his toes as Hammond hopes to pass Bronson because they’re separated by the slimmest 3 points. Tim Zackery will be gunning for some massive points as he’s 124 back and the same from 5th place Garrett Stewart, 154 behind Mathews. Anything can, and will happen at Ocala though, and we could see a huge points shake-up.
The Tee Pee Tire Hobby Stocks have had a season in which some drivers have had really good luck and some have had really bad luck. Danny Miller found the other end of the spectrum as after he won and won and won, he had the ride of his life last month. Dean Jarvis has beat the gremlins, for the most part, this year and holds 41 points over Heath Walker. Danny Miller is 20 behind Walker which gives Walker some slight breathing room. William Edwards is 97 points out of the lead and Jody Wells is 140 points out of the lead and they’ll both be gunning to hold their top-5 positions.
Mike Stalnaker has dominated the Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks this year and holds 137 points over Chris Shea. Scott Mooers is 22 points behind Shea, but can’t focus on chasing as he’s got to hold Brian Shea back. Brian Shea is only 1 point behind Mooers and wants that top-3 points finish. Vaughn Woodall is 28 points behind Brian Shea and holds 39 points over 6th place. Woodall will attempt to hold his top-5 while chasing 4th place.
The Gladiators have had a great season of racing, but the points have started to spread out a bit. Last time out, Matt Shea, whom has put 30 points over Devin Walker, won. Casey Feaster is 3rd, 94 points behind Shea, but doesn’t look to throw in the towel. Steven Johnson is 136 points behind Shea, but Johnson has recently hit a hot streak. Kyle Morse holds 5th by over 100 points which gives him a chance to chase and gain the 211 points he is down to Shea.
The gates at Ocala Speedway open at 5PM while racing starts at 8. Prices are as usual and for more information you can call the Speedway or visit www.ocalaspeedway.com.
