As much fun as it is to crown a champion, it’s also sad because the season is ending. On this upcoming night, the Colortyme Open-Wheel Modifieds run their final event of 2010 at Ocala, marking the end of their fantastic season. The Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks run, as well as the Tee Pee Tire Hobby Stocks and the Gladiators.
The Colortyme Open-Wheel Modifieds, running their final event, will headline the night. Last time out, Kyle Bronson won his 3rd consecutive feature in a very exciting race. The season, however, has been a different story. Jeff Mathews, the 2009 champion, is the current points leader with 39 points over Bronson. Wayne Hammond is in 3rd, 102 points behind Mathews. With a 138 point deficit to the leaders is 4th place Tim Zackery, and 5th place belongs to Garrett Stewart, currently 173 points out of 1st. The title is mathematically down to the top 2, but everyone still wants to win a race in 2010. The Modifieds have a great night in store!
Ocala Speedway has a special $1000 to win, no points, bring your own track rules night for the Tee Pee Tire Hobby Stocks. Even though no points will be rewarded, the most consistent driver has been Dean Jarvis, the current points leader. Heath Walker runs a mere 22 points behind Jarvis, and with no wins in the 55 at Ocala in 2010, he’d love to get to victory lane. Danny Miller has had a season in which he has experienced everything, and he currently runs 45 points out of the lead. Miller prefers to focus on the good, however, and would love to add another win and $1000 to his pocket. William Edwards, 141 points out of 1st, has had a fantastic season and so has 5th place Jody Wells, 169 points back. Both of them would love to add a W in the win column and the $1000 wouldn’t hurt either.
The Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks have another fantastic race in store this week in which many drivers have something to prove. Mike Stalnaker has proven that he can cope with the pressure of the points lead and currently holds 63 points over Scott Mooers. Mooers still can’t focus on Stalnaker alone as Chris Shea is 74 points behind Stalnaker. In 4th place, fresh off his 1st career win, is Vaughn Woodall, currently 113 points behind Stalnaker. Brian Shea is 140 points behind Mike Stalnaker and will do everything it takes to stay in the top 5. And, don’t forget, Chris Fontaine may run, fresh off his amazing run at Talladega.
Another great event is First Time Winners Night for the Gladiators. Any driver that has won a 2010 Gladiator feature is NOT eligible to run on this night, and of course no points will be awarded. Of the non feature winners, Kyle Morse leads. Morse is 5th overall and this could be his best chance at a win yet. The 2nd place driver with no wins in 2010 is Brandon Haseleu in the 3H. Jerry Taylor is 3rd of the non 2010 winners. Driver #83, Kody Fisher is 4th of the drivers with no 2010 wins. In 9th overall, 5th of the non 2010 winning drivers is Matt Kramer. The great drivers of this series will all battle for their first win of 2010, and it will be good.
