Just four Late Model races remain on the regular season schedule at Auburndale Speedway but the next three will be very important races for drivers looking to win some big money in October.
For the Late Model race on October 16, 2010, the purse is being increased significantly from $3,000 to win to $5,000 to win. There is a “catch” though.
In order to be eligible to win $5,000, the winning driver must have competed in one of the previous 100 lap Late Model events at Auburndale. If not, the winners share drops to $4,000, still not chump change but certainly not as good as a cool 5K. The effort is being made to thank the drivers who have supported the track during the year.
Late Model races will take place on June 19th, July 17th and September 18th, each paying $3,000 to win. All drivers who have already competed in the three races held so far this year and who take part in the next three events will be eligible for the full purse in the October race. In addition, second place in the October 16th event will pay $3,000 if the second place driver has competed previously during the year at Auburndale. The remainder of the purse for the October 16th race will be announced shortly as several sponsors may be in line to help boost the payout for the other spots significantly. Also, another big-money non-points Late Model race is in the planning stages for November.
