DAYTONA BEACH, FL (February 5, 2010) – Alli Owens will line up 19th for the start of the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway. On her qualifying lap, Owens piloted the No. 15  ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevy around the 2.5-mile track in 50.227 seconds (179.186 mph), .652 seconds slower than pole sitter James Buesher. Although Owens was expecting a higher starting position, she is confident that her team is ready to perform tomorrow.

“The ElectrifyingCareers.com Chevy was a lot faster in practice and testing than it was in qualifying,” said Owens. “I’m not sure what made us slow down, but I know that we’ve got a really good race car.  I’ve got four great teammates at Venturini Motorsports and we’ll all work together to the front of the pack tomorrow.  There’s strength in numbers and we’ve definitely got that on our side.  It’s not uncommon for someone to lead this race, then get shuffled to the back, then drive back to the front again, so starting in the middle of the pack isn’t a big deal.  It would have been nice to start in the front, but I know my car will drive well through traffic and can lead the charge.  It’s going to be a great race tomorrow.”

The Slick Mist 200 begins at 4:30 EST. Coverage will be on SPEED TV.
