It will be loads of fun for the family Saturday night at Auburndale Speedway as Coca-Cola presents the Halloween Spooktackular featuring the Sunshine State Challenge Series (SSCS) Super Late Model Coke 100 along with racing for the Legend Cars, V-8 Bombers, Q Mini Stocks, Scramblers and Mini Cup cars. There will be lots of neat Coca-Cola items and souvenirs given away during the evening.
The Fellows Racing Kids Club for ages 5-12 will get under way at 5 pm with a bounce house and lots of other fun until 6:30 pm. Then later there will be trick or treating for the kids during intermission with the drivers on the track along with loads of candy and goodies.
Bradenton’s Jesse Dutilly has now opened up a 36 point advantage over Naples driver Michael Atwell in the SSCS Super Late Model standings. Atwell is 17 points ahead of third place Nick Neri of Palmetto with Oviedo’s Anthony Sergi just two markers in back of Neri. Dylan Bigley of Naples is fifth in the standings and all five are expected to compete Saturday night along with a host of others including George Gorham, Jr., Matt McCrary, David Green, Joe Boyd, Billy Bigley, Jr., Michael Goddard and many more.
Pit gates open Saturday afternoon at 12 noon with the SSCS Super Late Models getting a one-hour practice session from 1-2 pm. Practice for all other classes will begin at 3 pm and continue until 4:30 pm. Grandstand gates open officially at 5 pm (you can come earlier and watch practice) and there will be a final Super Late Model practice and “scuff” session from 5-5:30 pm.
The Legend Cars and V-8 Bombers will qualify for their feature races at 6 pm and racing begins at 7 pm with a features-only format. Leading things off will be a 25-lap race for the Mini Cup cars which will be followed by qualifying for the SSCS Super Late Models. Then it will be time for the Q Mini Stocks to go 25 laps before intermission.
Trick or Treating with the drivers will take place on the front stretch during intermission. Once all the kids’ bags are stuffed full of goodies, racing resumes with the Coca-Cola Spooktacular 100 for the SSCS Super Late Models. After that race concludes the Legend Cars go for 25 laps followed by 25 laps for the Scramblers. The V-8 Bombers wrap up the evening with a 30-lap feature race.
Adult admission for the evening of action and Halloween fun is just $15 with seniors 55+ $13. Children ages 5-12 are only $5 and all kids 4 and under get in free. The family 4-pack is just $32 for two adult and two children’s admissions (a $40 value). Pit passes are $30 per person and all parking is free.
