Weather Forecast Results in Major CRA SpeedFest 2018 Schedule Changes

Feature Races to Run on Saturday Afternoon

Salem, IN (January 22, 2018) – With the current forecast of rain Saturday night and Sunday, Crisp Motorsports Park officials and Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS officials have decided to adjust the schedule of events for this weekend’s CRA SpeedFest 2018. All feature racing action will now take place on Saturday afternoon, January 27th, rather than the previous scheduled Sunday afternoon. This change also allows for Sunday to be the scheduled rain date if the rain were to move ahead to Saturday.

“With the forecast of rain Saturday night and Sunday morning, we just felt it would be best for all the racers and the fans to move the features to Saturday afternoon,” remarked Wayne Lyle, Owner of Crisp Motorsports Park. “We looked at the calendar over the next two months, and there just wasn’t a good place to move it, so this was the best alternative to that. We ask for everyone’s help in getting the word out that we will be racing on Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday!”

“This is a great move by the race track,” commented CRA Series Director Glenn Luckett. “The racers and fans can see that the track is to committed to getting the race in this weekend, and by moving the features to Saturday, it gives them the flexibility to race Saturday or Sunday if needed. Everyone can move ahead with their planning knowing that there is a really high probability of racing this weekend, aided by the move to schedule Saturday feature racing.”

CRA SpeedFest 2018 will consist of a $10,000 to win 200 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model special non-points event and a $5000 to win 125 lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Model special non-points event. The 200 ARCA/CRA Super Series event will be an eight tire max event that will count yellow flag laps up to lap 175 with Controlled Cautions. The 125 lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event will be a four tire only event that will count yellow flag laps up to lap 100. In addition, CRA SpeedFest 2018 will also feature a 20 lap Legend feature and a 15 lap Bandolero feature.

The event will see some of the best racers in the country competing in the 325 laps of late model feature racing action. Some of the top entries for this weekend’s events include Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competitors Erik Jones and Corey Lajoie, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Brandon Jones, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor and SpeedFest 2017 Super Late Model event winner Harrison Burton, SpeedFest 2017 Pro Late Model event winner Casey Roderick, past SpeedFest winners Bubba Pollard and Jeff Choquette.

There are currently 29 cars entered for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model event and 30 cars entered for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Model event.

The revised schedule of events will kick off with an open practice starting on Friday morning, pits will open at 8am with hauler parking. The track will be open for practice from 10:30am until 3pm, with four alternating 30 minutes sessions each for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models and the ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Models, then a final 15 minute session for each group. Tech will open at 12:30pm. There will be another 30 minute session for each group starting a 3pm, for those cars that have cleared pre-tech.

Legends and Bandolero’s will practice and qualify on Friday from 4pm until 5:30pm. JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models will qualify for Saturday’s event at 5:30pm on Friday, followed by ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Models qualifying at 6:15pm. The track will close at 8pm.

Pits will open at 7am on Saturday. Hauler removal will begin at 8am, all haulers must be removed from inside the track by 9:30am. There will be a Chapel Service at 11am. All the drivers competing in the CRA SpeedFest 2018 will be part of an on track autograph session beginning at 12noon, open to all the fans attending Saturday’s event. Driver’s introductions will begin at 1:00pm. The racing will start off at 1:30pm with the Legends and Bandolero features, followed by the SpeedFest 125 for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models, and then the SpeedFest 200 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Models will hit the track for the final event of the afternoon.

The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds are once again the busiest class with 14 dates on their calendar at three different race tracks within the Sunshine State. The DIRTcar Late Models won’t be as busy, but still get some track time with three DIRTcar-sanctioned events at two different tracks and four more races with the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series.

The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds kick off the 2018 racing season at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL from Jan. 24-27 to kick off the track’s 42nd annual Winter Nationals. After four days at East Bay, it’s onto North Florida Speedway in Lake City, FL from Feb. 2-4 for the Modifieds. The first two nights, on Thursday-Friday, Feb. 2-3, they’ll race for $1,500 to win each night before vying for a $2,500 payday on Sunday, Feb. 4. Their full-fendered counterparts of the DIRTcar Late Models join the Modifieds on Sunday the 4th for a $5,000 payday and their first action of Speedweeks.

Then it’s onto the 47th Annual DIRTcar Nationals, Feb. 6-17 at Volusia Speedway Park, located west of Daytona Beach in DeLeon Springs, Florida. The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds kick things off on Tuesday, Feb. 6 and will race for seven straight nights from Feb. 6-12 with the $5,000-to-win Gator Championship wrapping up their portion of #FLinFeb on Tuesday, Feb. 12. A grand total of $24,500 in first place winnings is up for grabs in the 14 races.

The DIRTcar Late Models will race twice on Feb. 12-13 before the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series take over for the rest of the week on Feb. 14-17. The Arctic Cat All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars (Feb. 7-8) and World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series (Feb. 9-11) join the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds for those nights, while the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds are in action with the Late Models over five nights of racing starting on Tuesday, Feb. 13, going until Saturday, Feb. 17.

Winter Freeze to be ran under 2017 rules package; shock announcement forthcoming

Officials with the FASTRAK Racing Series have announced that the season opening event, the Winter Freeze, at Screven Motor Speedway on February 9th and 10th will be ran under the 2017 rules package. FASTRAK holds its annual rules meeting in conjunction with the Night of Champions annual awards banquet on January 27th, just two weeks before the Winter Freeze.

“Our rules meeting is only two weeks before the Winter Freeze,” stated FASTRAK founder Stan Lester, “it just wouldn’t be fair to ask to teams to make changes that quickly.”

FASTRAK is looking to make a monumental change to the shocks and springs for 2018, in a concentrated effort to lower the costs associated with shocks. Officials have gathered information and input from shock companies, tracks, and drivers. This process culminated at the Performance Racing Industry trade show over the weekend in Indianapolis, where FASTRAK meet with several industry leaders regarding shocks. FASTRAK officials will be reviewing all information with sanctioned tracks and make a final decision in the coming week.

“We have collected a lot of information on shocks and now we have our options,” continued Lester, “we will be presenting those options to our tracks and make a decision together. We should have the answer everyone has been waiting for no later than early next week.”

Drivers and teams are encouraged to attend to the Night of Champions banquet and attend the annual rules meeting, which takes place earlier in the day on January 27th. All those wishing to attend must make their reservations at the Double Tree Park Vista in Gatlinburg, TN no later than December 26th. Attendees must also call the FASTRAK Corporate Office to reserve their tickets, which are $35 per plate.

2018 ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS Schedule Released

Numerous High Paying Special Events on the 2018 Schedule

Salem, Indiana (December 7, 2017): Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS has officially released the 2018 Schedule for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. The ARCA/CRA Super Series 2018 season will consist of 16 total races, with 12 of those being point events. 2018 will be the 22nd season of competition for the Template Super Late Model touring series that first raced in 1997.

“We are really excited about the 2018 schedule with the ARCA/CRA Super Series,” remarked R.J. Scott, Managing Partner of CRA. “Our 22nd season will provide our drivers with a great variety of challenging races on some of the best race tracks in the nation, with some of the most prestigious late model events in the country!”

The 2017 Chase format for determining a series champion produced more teams competing for a championship, in every CRA division, than the previous year.  Officials want to see that continue for the tracks and fans, while addressing ways to put more value in being the overall series point’s leaders. CRA will announce final changes to the Chase format for 2018 at the awards banquet on January 5th.

The 2018 racing season kicks off with the traditional non-points opener for both the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour with CRA SpeedFest 2018 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia on Saturday-Sunday, January 27th & 28th. The ARCA/CRA Super Series race will be a 200 lap event, counting yellow flag laps up to lap 175. This event has traditionally attracted the best Super Late Model drivers from both the North and the South in this early season battle.

The ARCA/CRA Super Series will then kick off its 2018 point season on Saturday, April 7th at the famous Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville. The event will be a co-sanctioned event with the Southern Super Series and the CARS Tour and the race program will include the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards.

The series will then head north to Toledo Speedway, located in Toledo, on Saturday, April 14th for a 100 lap event with the outlaw-bodied ARCA Late Models also having a 100 lap feature. From there the series will travel to Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, Indiana, on Saturday, May 5th, the first of two events on the fast quarter mile oval.

The series will then head to Bristol Motor Speedway as part of the huge Second Annual Short Track U.S. Nationals, an event that will be co-sanctioned by the Southern Super Series and the CARS Tour on Saturday-Sunday May 19th & 20th. Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace won the inaugural U.S. Nationals of Short Track Racing Super Late Model event at the famed “last coliseum” last May.

The series will then return to Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio on Saturday, June 2nd. That track reopened in 2017 season after being closed the previous two seasons.

On Monday, June 11th the series will make the first of two visits to Berlin Raceway, for the $20,000 to win Money in the Bank 150. This will be a special non-points CRA sanctioned event in 2018. The series stays in Michigan for its next event at Flat Rock Speedway on Saturday, June 23rd.

On Monday, July 16th the series returns to Anderson Speedway for the famed Redbud 400. The event will return to a weekday event, the Monday after the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event at Kentucky Speedway. The series will then head to Baer Field Motorsports Park in Fort Wayne, IN on Saturday, July 28th.

The series will head back to Kalamazoo Speedway located just outside of Kalamazoo, Michigan to be part of the famous Kalamazoo Klash event on Wednesday, August 8th. That event will be the first Chase event for the series.

The series will stay in Michigan with the Battle at Berlin 251 at Berlin Raceway on Monday, August 13th. This will be a special non-points CRA sanctioned event in 2018.

The series will then make its first of two visits to the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway located in Winchester, Indiana for the traditional World Stock Car Festival over Labor Day Weekend, with the feature event on Monday, September 3rd. This event will be the second Chase event for the series.

The series will then head to the famed Lucas Oil Raceway, located just outside of Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, September 8th. As previously announced, this event will be the Speed51 Super Select, a winner-take-all invitational non-points race that will pay the winner up to $10,000.

The second visit to Toledo Speedway on Saturday, September 15th is up next for a 100 lap event as part of the famed Glass City 200, which will also include a 100 lap event for the outlaw-bodied ARCA Late Models. This event was very successful event for the series in 2017 and will be the third Chase event for the series.
