DON O’NEAL PACES PITTSBURGHER FIELD FOR $20,000 VICTORY

IMPERIAL, PA (October 7, 2017) Don O’Neal completed a weekend sweep, winning the 29th Annual Pittsburgher 100 on Saturday night at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. O’Neal led from start to finish to collect $20,000 for his first career win in the annual event. It was O’Neal’s second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of the season as he led his Clint Bowyer teammate Darrell Lanigan in a one-two sweep for the NASCAR team owner. Josh Richards, the defending race winner came home in third.

Richards’ third-place finish moved him into second-place in the championship point standings with one race to go. Richards is now 40 points behind the leader, Tim McCreadie, who finished sixth in the race. Scott Bloomquist finished 18th and is now third in championship standings at 75 points behind McCreadie.

O’Neal waited through several caution flags during the race to score the win. O’Neal was untouchable after the restarts as nobody was within striking distance of him at any point during the race. O’Neal had a scare with a lapped car with two laps to go as he nearly got into the turn one wall. He escaped the mayhem unscathed and went on for a dominating victory.

In Lucas Oil Victory Lane, O’Neal commented on the roll his team is currently on. “Another podium finish sounds good, and this time we got the win,” said O’Neal. “Last week, we had two runner-up finishes and tonight the car was just fantastic, in fact all weekend long it was just perfect.” O’Neal completed the weekend sweep at Pittsburgh by setting a new track record and scoring a convincing win in his heat race in Friday night’s preliminaries.

“I would like to thank Clint and Casey Bowyer and everybody back at the shop, as well as Anthony Burroughs and Keir Hoover, they deserve all the credit. I wish we could go back to Speedweeks and start the season over.”

O’Neal’s Club 29 Race Car is powered by Cornett Racing Engine and is sponsored by Peak Antifreeze and Coolant, Crawford Outdoor, Cometic Gasket, Clint Bowyer Autoplex, Traeger Wood Fire Grills, Penske Shocks, Sunoco, and I-Racing.com

Lanigan and his I-Racing.com Club 29 followed his teammate to the line. “We have been really solid here recently, and it’s a great way to end the season. Congrats to Don on the win. Thanks to Clint and Casey Bowyer and all my crew.”

Richards and his Best Performance Motorsports, Rocket was looking for his third win in the famed event and ran as high as second, but eventually claimed the third finishing spot. “We had a good car tonight. There was quite a race among the top five after Don [O’Neal]. He [O’Neal] was unbeatable here tonight. This was a good points finish for us. We’ll head to Portsmouth with at least a decent shot at the title.”

Completing the top ten were Tim McCreadie, Hudson O’Neal, Boom Briggs, Mason Zeigler, and Rick Eckert.

DIRTcar Fall Nationals Kicks Off after Battle with Mother Nature

Strickler, Rice, Hoffman & Mielke Bag $2,000 Each after Winning DIRTcar UMP Modified Features at Eldora Speedway

Rossburg, OH — Oct. 6th, 2017 — It was Night I, Take II of the Allstar Performance DIRTcar Fall Nationals at the famed half-mile high-banked dirt oval at Eldora Speedway, located just east of the Indiana/Ohio state line in Rossburg, Ohio. After the originally scheduled first night on Thursday, October 5 was rained out, the forecast looked dreary again for Friday. However, Track Officials waited out Mother Nature, and the fans in attendance were rewarded with 85 DIRTcar UMP Modifieds on the property. Kyle Strickler, Josh Rice, Nick Hoffman and David Mielke each collected $2,000 apiece for their Feature wins.

In the first $2,000-to-win, 20-lap Feature, Keystone State-traveler Dan Davies and Buckeye State-native Nathan Loney led the field to the green flag. After a complete restart, Loney grabed the early lead. However, on lap three, Kyle Strickler, who started third, took the top spot, and the Mooresville, NC star made no mistake the rest of the way en route to his third career Eldora Speedway Feature win and first since the 2015 DIRTcar Fall Nationals. Loney settled for second while Ray Bollinger, second in DIRTcar UMP Modified National points coming into the weekend, finished on the podium in third. David Stremme grabbed fourth ahead of fellow former NASCAR star Kenny Wallace, who completed the top five. Brandon Green, Will Krup, Davies, Will Norris and Mark Beard round out the top 10.

The second 20-lap Feature would see Canadian Joel Dick and another Buckeye State native, Jesse Wisecarver, lead the field in search of the second $2,000 payday of the night. Wisecarver rocketed out to the early lead. Josh Rice slowly picked his way through the field from his fifth starting spot and soon found himself on Wisecarver’s back bumper. With four laps to go, Rice made the winning pass, and the Verona, KY standout hung on for his second career Eldora Feature win and first since September 19, 2014. Wisecarver finished second over Dylan Woodling, while NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star Justin Haley and Josh Harris made top five. Mike Learman was sixth as Jared Spalding, Jimmy Lennex Jr., Brandon Vaughan and Blake Spalding completed the top 10.

Evan Taylor and Jordan Conover started on the front row for the third 20-lap, $2,000-to-win main event for the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, and Taylor led the first five laps. The Pennsylvania native then had to deal with 2016 Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Champion Nick Hoffman, who took the lead on lap six. The Mooresville, NC driver made it two wins for the Tar Heel State on the night. This was Hoffman’s fifth career Eldora Feature win and first since September 30, 2016. Taylor finished second with Eldora points leader and four-time track champion (three of those titles in Modifieds) Jerry Bowersock coming home third. Chad Bauer scored a fourth place showing ahead of Troy Johnson, who finished off the top five. Garret Stewart was sixth ahead of Cody Bauer as Allen Weisser, Earnie Woodard and Jason Brookover were the final top 10.

The final 20-lap DIRTcar UMP Modified Feature of the night would see Michigan veteran Curt Spalding and Kentucky star Tyler Nicely bring the field down to the green flag for the final shot at a $2,000 payday. Spalding jumped out to the early advantage and set a torrid early pace. Five-time DIRTcar UMP Modified Michigan State Champion David Mielke began his charge from his fifth starting spot and soon found himself on the back bumper of the fellow Great Lakes State competitor. After several laps of battling side by side, Mielke took the lead for the final time with three laps to go, earning the Gladwin, MI star his second career Eldora Feature win and first since April 16, 2016. Spalding settled for second ahead of Ryan Sutter, while Taylor Cook and Nicely wrapped up the top five. Derrick Ramey was sixth ahead of Jamie Carter as Jamie Lomax, Branden Rassell and Bill Keeler were the top 10.

Earlier in the evening, K.C. Burdette out-qualified the 87-car field on the property with an impressive 17.355, at 103.616 mph. Strickler, Trent Young, Jacob Hawkins, Joel Dick. Hoffman, E. Taylor, J. Taylor and Mielke all scored the Heat Race victories that set the four feature fields.

Night II of the Allstar Performance DIRTcar Fall Nationals will see the DIRTcar Late Models join the Modifieds for an action-packed night of racing. The battle for the DIRTcar Late Models National points title will come down to 2010 National Champion Rusty Schlenk and 2011 National Champion Ryan Unzicker, who are separated by a mere nine markers. The 2017 Sunoco American Late Model Series Championship is on the line as Jon Henry merely needs to start the feature to clinch his third Sunoco ALMS title and first since 2011. Meanwhile, Eldora Track Champion Kent Robinson has a slim 10-point lead over Henry, who has a shot at two titles in one night. Jacob Hawkins and Jeff Babcock are third and fourth and have a mathematical chance at the track championship.

In the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Mike Harrison has already clinched his record sixth DIRTcar UMP Modified National Championship, while the top eight drivers in the Eldora Track standings going into the weekend all had a chance at the title, led by four-time track champion (three of those in a Modified) Jerry Bowersock. Of the top eight still alive in the chase for the championship, only Bowersock (third in the third Feature), Dylan Woodling (third in the second Feature), Ryan Sutter (third in the fourth Feature) and Evan Taylor (second in the third Feature) recorded top-five finishes on opening night of the Allstar Performance DIRTcar Fall Nationals.

Must See Racing Sprints Must See Sprints Added to MegaMeltdown at Hickory

Charlotte, NC – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry is pleased to announce that the 12th Annual Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 weekend at Hickory Motor Speedway will expand to include the Must See Racing Sprint Cars. The MegaMeltdown will be the final PASS National Championship Series race of the year and will feature the best Super Late Model racers from across North America as they compete for over $15,000 to win. And, for the first time ever, the MAV TV cameras will be rolling as the MegaMeltdown will be televised, flag-to-flag for a nationwide audience. For the Must See Racing Sprints, the event is shaping up to be a showdown, pitting the best winged Sprint Car racers from the Midwest against some of the South’s top asphalt racers.

“The MegaMeltdown is already getting a great response from racers and fans across the country and looks like it will be one of the biggest races of the year,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “The addition of the Must See Racing Sprint Cars only adds to this great event. It will give our stock car fans the chance to not only see Winged Sprint Cars race on asphalt, but it will also give them a glimpse of some of the fastest cars to race on short tracks period. These guys have been setting track records everywhere they go and I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them do the same at Hickory again.”

In 2015, Must See Racing joined PASS for their first-ever event at the legendary Hickory Motor Speedway. This year’s MegaMeltdown weekend will close out the 2017 season for the Midwest’s best asphalt Winged Sprint Car drivers as they get set to compete against some of the South’s best “Winged Warriors.” The MegaMeltdown will pit the top Southern and Northern winged pavement sprint car drivers head-to-head for the final time this year. This event could prove to be one of the biggest pavement sprint car events ever held in the South. In addition, the event is expected to draw the top pavement sprint cars drivers from across the nation.

“We are delighted to be back at Hickory Motor Speedway again and excited to be able to work with Tom Mayberry and the staff with PASS to bring ‘The Fastest Short Track Cars In The World’ to one of the biggest weekends of short track racing in the southeast,” said Must See Racing founder and president Jim Hanks. “Hickory has always been a favorite venue of our drivers and teams and we look forward to a fantastic show as we close out our season and crown our two division champions for the year in one action-packed weekend of racing.”

Entry forms and the complete weekend schedule for upcoming events at Oxford Plains Speedway, Orange County Speedway, and Hickory Motor Speedway are now posted at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Ready to Close out the 2017 Season at Winchester Speedway Friday

Salem, IN. (October 3, 2017) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will close out their seventh season of competition this Friday on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway, helping kickoff the big 46th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend. A talented field of 23 teams is currently entered to compete in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Friday evening. That event will be the eleventh point’s event of the 2017 season for the series after losing one event to weather.

2017 was the first season CRA has used a Championship Chase format to crown their Champions in all four of its series. Eight drivers were locked into the final four JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion Chase events. After three of those events, four drivers were eliminated, giving four drivers a shot to win the 2017 series Championship. The four includes Carson Hocevar, Jack Dossey III, Michael Clancy Jr. and Austin Kunert, the driver finishing the highest in Friday’s Winchester 100 will be crowned the 2017 Champion.

14 year old Hocevar looks to make series history on Friday. No driver has ever won both the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship and the Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Award Presented by VanDoorn Racing Development in the same season. Hocevar has already locked up the Howie Lettow Rookie of the Year Award Presented by VanDoorn Racing Development going into Friday night. The rookie driver has won a series leading three events so far in 2017, a record number of wins for a rookie in one season, becoming the series youngest winner at Kil-Kare Raceway in July, then followed that up with a win at Birch Run Speedway in August, then won the series first Championship Chase event at Winchester on Labor Day Weekend, locking him into the final four. Hocevar was the Fury Race Cars Fast Qualifier a series leading four times at Bristol Motor Speedway, Auto City Speedway, Birch Run, and Owosso Speedway.

Jack Dossey III has had a great season in 2017, and has been on the verge of getting his first series win several times with three second place finishes so far this season at Salem Speedway, Lebanon I-44 Speedway and Owosso Speedway and led 22 laps of the Labor Day Winchester event before low air pressure in a tire cost him a possible win and left him with a 10th place finish in that event. Dossey III was the Fury Race Cars Fast Qualifier at Salem Speedway and at Winchester. Dossey hopes to use his great runs on the High Banked tracks to claim the Championship.

14 year old Michael Clancy Jr. has had a good sophomore season with the series, including six straight top ten finishes up to the last series event at Lucas Oil Raceway, with a series high finish of sixth three times, including the series event at Winchester on Labor Day Weekend. Clancy Jr. was the Fury Race Cars Fast Qualifier at Lebanon I-44 Speedway and at the series last event at Lucas Oil Raceway. Clancy Jr. was running second at Lucas Oil Raceway until an on track incident on a restart ended his day after heavy contact with the outside retaining wall. Clancy Jr. hopes to be near the front of the field on Friday night to be in the Championship running.

Austin Kunert came into the 2017 season with high expectations in his third season of racing with the series, after finishing second in points in 2016 to Champion Cody Coughlin. Kunert has had an up and down season, with several good runs and some bad luck that kept him from being at the top of the points. Kunert has five top five finishes so far this season, with a season high finish of third twice, once at Salem Speedway in June and at Birch Run Speedway in August. Kunert finished second in the Winchester Championship event last season, and hopes to be there again to battle for the 2017 Championship.

Besides the four Championship contenders, other top drivers entered include last year’s event winner and defending Winchester 400 winner Travis Braden, Jack Smith winner of this event in 2015 and at Salem earlier this season, 2013 event winner Corey Deuser, 2017 Owosso Speedway winner Kyle Crump, Mason Keller who finished second in the Labor Day Weekend event and 2017 Southern Super Series Champion Stephen Nasse in Rick Turner’s car, who finished second in the Pro Late Model event at Nashville last Sunday.

Darrell Lanigan Dominates Rome Showdown

ROME, GA (October 1, 2017) – Darrell Lanigan swept all activities he participated in Sunday night at Rome Speedway. Lanigan set the overall fastest time of the night in Miller Welders Time Trials, he won his heat race in convincing fashion, and he led all 50 laps on his way to win the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Rome Showdown in the Bowyer Dirt Motorsports, I-Racing.com, Club 29 entry.

Lanigan’s Bowyer teammate, Don O’Neal finished in the second position for the second night in a row. Tim McCreadie started seventh and charged to third-place finish, which enabled him to take over the season championship point standings. Chris Madden was fourth and 18th-place starter Earl Pearson Jr. drove an impressive race to finish fifth.

Lanigan started on the outside of the front row and was cruising along until Brandon Overton started his charge for the lead. Overton closed to within a car-length on Lanigan, but on lap 20 Overton suddenly slowed in turn four, bringing out the first caution of the race. Overton would pit, but he was never a factor after that.

On the restart, Lanigan pulled away from the field as several competitors took their shot at second place. Don O’Neal finally made it to second as he had to battle McCreadie in the final ten laps to garner his second runner-up finish in two nights.

In Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the second time this season, Lanigan was extremely happy with the performance of his race team. “Last night I jumped the cushion at Dixie and it cost us a good finish. Tonight, the car was just perfect from the time we unloaded it. Brian, Richie, and the entire crew have done a great job all year. We have had bad luck that knocked us out of some more wins. We are here to win,” said the 47-year-old veteran driver.

The winner’s Clint Bowyer-owned team is sponsored by iRacing.com, Peak Antifreeze and Coolant, Cometic Gasket, Penske Shocks, Ditzfeld Transfer, Mobil 1, Clint Bowyer Autoplex and Sunoco Race Fuels. The Club 29 Race Car is powered by a Clements Racing Engine.

O’Neal continues his late season surge in the Peak Antifreeze and Coolant, Club 29. “Thanks to Clint Bowyer and everybody on the team. We have really got a good set-up on this car in the last month. We were running second at Knoxville and had a fan blade come off, and that knocked the water pump off. We were up to second at Brownstown last week and now two podium finishes this weekend. We are looking forward to Pittsburgh next weekend.”

McCreadie will enter the Pittsburgher 100 next weekend as the new series points leader in the Sweeteners Plus, Longhorn. “It feels great to be the point leader, but now we have to close it out strong. This team has worked so hard all year. Now it has come to crunch time. This is what we all work so hard for, a championship.”

Completing the top ten were Scott Bloomquist, Dale McDowell, Donald McIntosh, Devin Gilpin, and Michael Page.

Michael Page Claims First-Career Lucas Oil Victory!

WOODSTOCK, GA (September 30, 2017) – Michael Page scored the biggest win of his career on Saturday night by winning the Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout in front of a packed-grandstand at Dixie Speedway. Page, who has raced most of his career at the 3/8-mile oval, has grown up dreaming of winning this race at his home track. It became a reality as he became the seventeenth different winner this season in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition.

Page pocketed $12,000 for his first career LOLMDS victory. Don O’Neal led the first 22-laps of the race and finished second. Scott Bloomquist came home in third. Completing the top five were Chris Madden and Jimmy Owens.

O’Neal was in control of the event in the early going, before Page tracked him down in lapped traffic. On the restart after the final caution of the race on lap 46, Page saw O’Neal pull alongside him and threaten to retake the lead, but Page held off every challenge that O’Neal had for him to take the win.

“I figured if I was ever going to win it, tonight was it. It has been an up-and-down season and I am about wore out. I do what I can with a little team here,” said the emotional winner, who was surrounded in Lucas Oil Victory Lane with dozens of well-wishers. “When these Lucas Oil guys come here, you have to do something and tonight we did it.”

“I really didn’t want to move up on that last restart. I wasn’t worried about the right rear like I was the right front here. I just wasn’t pushing it too early. I was hoping he [O’Neal] would burn his stuff up and I think it worked out. I had a very good car here tonight. I want to thank Troy Baird and Stinger Race Cars. I am the only one here with one. It is a good race car. Thanks to all my help, my team, my mom and dad. Thanks to all of the fans here tonight and to those that believed in me, this one’s for you.”

The winners Andy Durham-powered, Stinger Race Cars Chassis is sponsored by Baird Truck and Trailer, Elite Concrete, T&T Trucking, Baird Towing, Mac Trailer, National Transportation, and Schaeffer’s Racing Oil.

O’Neal’s Peak Antifreeze and Coolant, Club 29 for Clint Bowyer was seeking his first Dixie Shootout win in 14 years. “I thought I had a shot to get back around him on that last restart. He did what he had to do he moved up there and blocked me. We were just two free getting into the turns. It was good run for us and hats off to him [Page] for the win.

Bloomquist moved to second in championship points with his podium finish. “It was a great points night for us. Hopefully we can get the lead at Rome and extend it out over these last three races. The car was good all night. I thought I could get by Don [O’Neal]. He was running the same line I was wanting to run. It killed our momentum there at the end. I want to thank Mike Reece, he was out here tonight and all my other great sponsors, we look forward to heading to Rome tomorrow night.

Completing the top ten were Shane Clanton, Devin Gilpin, Casey Roberts, Steve Francis, and Dale McDowell.
