2018 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Schedule Released

Masters of the Pros Event to be Contested at a New Track in 2018

Salem, Indiana (December 7, 2017): Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS has officially released the 2018 Schedule for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. The ARCA/CRA Super Series 2018 season will consist of 16 total races, with 12 of those being point events. 2018 will be the 22nd season of competition for the Template Super Late Model touring series that first raced in 1997.

“We are really excited about the 2018 schedule with the ARCA/CRA Super Series,” remarked R.J. Scott, Managing Partner of CRA. “Our 22nd season will provide our drivers with a great variety of challenging races on some of the best race tracks in the nation, with some of the most prestigious late model events in the country!”

The 2017 Chase format for determining a series champion produced more teams competing for a championship, in every CRA division, than the previous year.  Officials want to see that continue for the tracks and fans, while addressing ways to put more value in being the overall series point’s leaders. CRA will announce final changes to the Chase format for 2018 at the awards banquet on January 5th.

The 2018 racing season kicks off with the traditional non-points opener for both the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour with CRA SpeedFest 2018 at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, Georgia on Saturday-Sunday, January 27th & 28th. The ARCA/CRA Super Series race will be a 200 lap event, counting yellow flag laps up to lap 175. This event has traditionally attracted the best Super Late Model drivers from both the North and the South in this early season battle.

The ARCA/CRA Super Series will then kick off its 2018 point season on Saturday, April 7th at the famous Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville. The event will be a co-sanctioned event with the Southern Super Series and the CARS Tour and the race program will include the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards.

The series will then head north to Toledo Speedway, located in Toledo, on Saturday, April 14th for a 100 lap event with the outlaw-bodied ARCA Late Models also having a 100 lap feature. From there the series will travel to Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, Indiana, on Saturday, May 5th, the first of two events on the fast quarter mile oval.

The series will then head to Bristol Motor Speedway as part of the huge Second Annual Short Track U.S. Nationals, an event that will be co-sanctioned by the Southern Super Series and the CARS Tour on Saturday-Sunday May 19th & 20th. Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace won the inaugural U.S. Nationals of Short Track Racing Super Late Model event at the famed “last coliseum” last May.

The series will then return to Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio on Saturday, June 2nd. That track reopened in 2017 season after being closed the previous two seasons.

On Monday, June 11th the series will make the first of two visits to Berlin Raceway, for the $20,000 to win Money in the Bank 150. This will be a special non-points CRA sanctioned event in 2018. The series stays in Michigan for its next event at Flat Rock Speedway on Saturday, June 23rd.

On Monday, July 16th the series returns to Anderson Speedway for the famed Redbud 400. The event will return to a weekday event, the Monday after the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event at Kentucky Speedway. The series will then head to Baer Field Motorsports Park in Fort Wayne, IN on Saturday, July 28th.

The series will head back to Kalamazoo Speedway located just outside of Kalamazoo, Michigan to be part of the famous Kalamazoo Klash event on Wednesday, August 8th. That event will be the first Chase event for the series.

The series will stay in Michigan with the Battle at Berlin 251 at Berlin Raceway on Monday, August 13th. This will be a special non-points CRA sanctioned event in 2018.

The series will then make its first of two visits to the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway located in Winchester, Indiana for the traditional World Stock Car Festival over Labor Day Weekend, with the feature event on Monday, September 3rd. This event will be the second Chase event for the series.

The series will then head to the famed Lucas Oil Raceway, located just outside of Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, September 8th. As previously announced, this event will be the Speed51 Super Select, a winner-take-all invitational non-points race that will pay the winner up to $10,000.

The second visit to Toledo Speedway on Saturday, September 15th is up next for a 100 lap event as part of the famed Glass City 200, which will also include a 100 lap event for the outlaw-bodied ARCA Late Models. This event was very successful event for the series in 2017 and will be the third Chase event for the series.

The ARCA/CRA Super Series will crown their 2018 Tour Champion with the 47th Running of the prestigious Winchester 400 on Sunday, October 14th, in its second visit of the season to Winchester Speedway.

Summit Modified Nationals Joins DIRTcar Summer Nationals for the Eighth Straight Year

Eighth Annual Tour for DIRTcar UMP Modifieds will see Teams have a Chance to Race in 33 Shows

CONCORD, NC — Dec. 7, 2017 — For the eighth consecutive year, the cars and stars of the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds will join the most grueling and intimidating tour in short track racing. The Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals will mirror the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour in 2018 by joining their DIRTcar Late Model counterparts for 28 races in 32 days in seven states. Then the Modifieds will conclude their own version of the Summer Nationals with five additional events held as part of the 29th annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway on Friday-Saturday, July 27-28, 2018. The top Modified drivers in the country will chase after a minimum of $1,000 each night and a $5,000 prize for winning the 2018 Summit Modified Nationals Championship as well as bonuses and contingencies totaling almost $50,000.

It all begins on Wednesday, June 13 at Peoria Speedway as the UMP Modifieds kick off their eighth Summit Modified Nationals with their eighth-ever appearance at the track and first of 17 races in the state of Illinois. Then on Thursday, June 14, it’s a return trip to Kankakee County Speedway for the ninth all-time race there. The second-ever appearance at Sycamore Speedway is next for the Mods on Friday, June 15 before the first-ever appearance at the immaculate Dirt Oval at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL on Saturday, June 16. The first week concludes on Sunday, June 17 with a return trip to Plymouth Speedway and the first of four races in the state of Indiana.

The second week of Summit Modified Nationals competition starts at Belle-Clair Speedway, followed by trips to Jacksonville Raceway, Spoon River Speedway and Tri-City Speedway on Tuesday-Friday, June 19-22. On Saturday, June 23, the track that has hosted the most races in the tour’s history, the popular Fairbury American Legion Speedway is next. This event will be the 15th race in Summit Modified history and first of six in 2018. The second week ends on Sunday, June 24 with a trip back to the Hoosier State and the milestone 10th all-time race at Tri-State Speedway

The third week of the Summit Modified Nationals starts on Tuesday, June 26 at Charleston Speedway. Then for the first time since 2013, Paducah International Raceway, located just south of the Indiana/Kentucky state line in Paducah, KY returns to the Summit Modified schedule on Wednesday, June 27 for the lone trip to the Blue Grass State in 2018. Also returning to the schedule, after a year off, is LaSalle Speedway on Thursday, June 28. Then it’s right back to Indiana on Friday, June 29 at Terre Haute Action Track. On Saturday, June 30, the month ends with the long trip to the Show Me State for the fifth time in Summit Modified history at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. The third week ends on Sunday, July 1 with the fifth all-time race at Lincoln Speedway.

“Coming off a thrilling end to the 2017 Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals tour, we can’t wait to get the 2018 tour underway,” said Summit Racing Equipment Motorsport and Events Manager Jim Greenleaf. “The grueling test that it takes to run this tour is one thing but to have the level of competition to go along with it is a true testament to DIRTcar UMP Modifieds.”

The Summit Modified Nationals roll into the fourth week of competition with the lone Volunteer State invasion on Tuesday, July 3 and the fifth all-time appearance at Clarksville Speedway. The next race will see the Summit Modified Nationals celebrate the United States of America’s 242nd birthday with the eighth-ever event at Fayette County Speedway on Wednesday, July 4. Next on the schedule is Thursday, July 5 at Macon Speedway, while Farmer City Raceway is on Friday, July 6 with the sixth ever appearance there. On Saturday, July 7 the road weary teams will head to Highland Speedway for the seventh-ever race there. Week four concludes on Sunday, July 8th with the fifth-ever Summit Modified race at Quincy Raceways.

The fifth week of the Summit Modified Nationals starts with the tour’s first-ever appearance at Shadyhill Speedway in Medaryville, IN on Tuesday, July 10. Then the next night, Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, MI will try again to host its first-ever Summit Modified Nationals event on Wednesday, July 11. In 2017, the originally scheduled first-ever Summit Modified race at the 1/3-mile circular shaped/semi-banked dirt oval located along the Lake Michigan shoreline, was rained out. Then it’s time for the traditional doubleheader weekend at Oakshade Raceway on Friday-Saturday, July 13-14 with the milestone 10th (Friday) and 11th (Saturday) all-time appearances.

The Summit Modified Nationals teams will get some time off before they conclude their 2018 schedule on Friday-Saturday, July 27-28 back at Fairbury American Legion Speedway for the tour finales. On Friday, four Feature races will set the field for Saturday’s $5,000-to-win headliner. SHORT TRACK U.S. NATIONALS RETURNS TO BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY IN 2018

Second Annual Event Puts Spotlight on the World’s Best Short Track Racers

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2017) – For the second consecutive season, the world’s best short track racers will descend upon The Last Great Colosseum when Bristol Motor Speedway again hosts the Short Track U.S. Nationals, May 18-20.

The second annual running of the signature event will be sanctioned by five different racing organizations and brings together six elite short track racing categories to compete on the high banks of The World’s Fastest Half-Mile in one spectacular weekend of action.

“Last year’s Short Track U.S. Nationals showcased an epic weekend of competitive racing in six different categories,” said Jerry Caldwell, executive vice president and general manager at Bristol Motor Speedway. “Seeing the best-of-the-best in the short track racing world take to the signature high banks of Bristol was a sight to behold. We anticipate this to be an even better event in 2018.”

Champion Racing Association powered by JEGS (CRA), who took the lead sanctioning role in developing this event, will be co-sanctioning the Super Late Model race with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, The CARS Super Late Model Tour (CARS) and the Southern Super Series (SSS). CRA also will oversee the action for the crate late model event with their JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour presented by Chevrolet and the Street Stocks with their Lawrence Towing/CRA Street Stock Series. The CARS officials will oversee the Late Model Stock portion of the event with their CARS Late Model Stock Tour. The compacts will be organized and overseen by the Vore’s Compact Touring Series while the Modified portion of the weekend will be sanctioned by a Midwest based Touring Modified organization to be named at a later date. The Short Track U. S. Nationals is being presented by Vore’s Welding & Steel.

The inaugural event featured nearly 350 cars on track, leading the Short Track U.S. Nationals to join the likes of some of short track racing’s most revered events, including the prestigious Snowball Derby in Florida, Indiana’s famed Winchester 400 and Nashville’s All-American 400. The event featured 13 different winners who added their names to Bristol lore among multiple features in six divisions. Winners included soon-to-be fulltime NASCAR Cup Series driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace, Myatt Snider, Cole Williams and Chad Poole, among others.

Specific details of the event regarding daily schedules, additional racing information, parking and more will be released in the coming weeks. Information on tickets, camping and general details will be announced at a later date. Those who are interested can stay tuned to BMS’ social channels and www.BristolMotorSpeedway.com for updates.

Racers should follow the websites of the appropriate sanctioning bodies for more news and information as details are released.

SSCS MODIFIED AND STREET STOCK WINS TAKEN BY SKAGGS AND GIBSON AT AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY

Finally Auburndale Speedway got the chance to run a full program under near-perfect weather conditions including a full moon. A large crowd was treated to some great racing that featured the Sunshine State Challenge Series Open Wheel Modifieds and Street Stocks.

It was DARN Apparel Future Farmers of America night and the local high school chapters raised a total of $663 in admission sales for the night that went directly back to them for funding of their programs. Auburndale High brought in the most members to the track Saturday night.

L. B. Skaggs of North Fort Myers topped the SSCS Modified field in qualifying with a lap of 13.847 seconds. The “Rocketman,” Wayne Jefferson of Pinellas Park was second fastest in his Dick & Mary Anderson-owned machine with a lap of 13.904.

Luck of the draw placed to top two qualifiers on the front row for the start and Skaggs led the opening pair of laps before he and Jefferson tangled in turn two sending both to the rear for the restart. Johnny Allen took over at that point and held sway as both Jefferson and Skaggs again worked their way forward getting past Eric Rudd for second and third on lap eight.

Caution flew on the tenth lap for a spin by Jordan Harris. Harris was making his first start in a car that was built by his grandfather Danny Harris. The elder Harris owned cars that raced here for years but he has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Despite that, Harris was in attendance to watch his grandson compete for the first time.

Following the restart Jefferson moved in to challenge Allen but the two touched allowing Skaggs to slip into second. Skaggs would grab the top spot a lap later while Jefferson eventually drove by Allen for second on the 18th circuit. Harris spun a second time to bring out the yellow on lap 21 as Rudd took his machine to the pits but returned before the restart.

Lap 29 saw Harris spin a third time as track officials stopped leader Skaggs to check for a fluid leak. None was found and the SSCS Modified point leader returned to the point. Using the “Auburndale restart” to his advantage, Matt McCrary was able to sneak into second after the green flew again. McCrary stayed in second for a couple of laps before Jefferson came storming past to regain the spot. Rudd dropped from competition on lap 39.

With four laps left, McCrary spun in turn four to allow the field one final shot at Skaggs. Skaggs easily drove away to victory, though, topping Jefferson and Allen, who was back behind the wheel after a few years of inactivity. In victory lane, Skaggs was quick to thank Jefferson’s car owner Dick Anderson for helping him. “We were just a mid-pack car until Dickie
(Anderson) taught me how to get a car to turn in the center of the corner. I owe this win to him for all of his help and my crew who really make this thing go… it’s an absolute pleasure to drive,” said Skaggs.

Jefferson, making his first start here since 2010 said his car was “just a little off here and there” but said the team would get to work and correct those problems. For Allen, in his words… “I’m just happy to be here racing again and having the chance to drive a really great race car.” McCrary came back to take fourth spot ahead of Rudd, Gayle Haines and Harris.

The SSCS Street Stocks saw Venice driver Kenny Gibson tops in qualifying with a lap of 14.965 seconds. Point leader Ander Jackson was second quick at 15.044. The top two qualifiers again started up front and raced hard early on with Gibson leading the open lap while Jackson inched in front to lead lap two. Gibson, however, got the edge by lap three.

Walt Kirk spun during the fifth lap to bring out the first caution while the yellow flew again two laps later as Ross Francisco and Dora Thorne tangled in turn two. For this restart, Steven O’Steen used the restart rule to move his way into second where he held tough as Gibson began to put some distance on the field. Jackson finally passed O’Steen on the outside during lap 22 to take second but he was well behind the leader.

That all changed when Kirk spun in turn one on lap 31. Jackson moved up to challenge and dove under Gibson to get the preferred inside groove. But Gibson held tight on the outside and never lost the lead as Jackson eventually lost traction and began slipping back. Gibson went on to score an easy win ahead of O’Steen and Francisco who had a heated war for the second position that led to some harsh words after the race although “calm” prevailed fairly quickly.

Jackson slipped back to fourth at the finish and might have turned over the point lead to Gibson in the process. Doing double-duty on the night, Matt McCrary was fifth followed by Thorne and Kirk.

Keith Roggen, who has been concentrating on his new Super Late Model, dusted off his AMF Chassis Modified Mini Stock and went on to win the class’ 25-lap feature event by passing Chris Zimmerman late in the going after Zimmerman had led 22 laps. 2017 Mod Mini track champ Chris Spring was third followed by Austin Craig, Scott Bumgardner and Rachelle Rudolph. David Myers, Sr. was unable to start.

2017 point champion James Wright III led all the way to score what turned out to be a very competitive V-8 Bomber feature, at least the race for second place. Danny Burchfield won that battle as he outlasted third and fourth place finishers Bubba Healey and Jody Gill. Aaron Holmes was fifth followed by Ronnie Abney, Ricky Norman, Gordon Weaver and Nicole Green. Wright also won the heat.

It was yet another feature win for 2017 Q Mini Stock champion Chris Narramore, Sr. who grabbed the lead from Bruce Cozad on the eighth lap before cruising to victory. Cozad won out in a late fender-banging battle with John Cummins, Jr.
to claim the runner-up spot. Fourth went to Donald Gatlin ahead of Matt Cummins and Fred Martin. Cozad won the heat.

Brey Holmes picked up a ride in the Higbie #48 for the night and ended up topping both the heat and feature for the Mini Cup cars. 2017 point champion Russell Bush trailed in second by a good margin while Douglas Herrin, Jr.
rounded out the podium in third. Kameren Wozunk was fourth trailed by Maria Martins, Bill Rychel and Easton Bush. Clay Samuels was unable to start the feature after a hard crash in the heat.

Kyle Pitts took over the lead from Jim Smith on lap four and went on to claim his third Legend Car feature victory of the year. Gavin Sexton also got by Smith for second but trailed Pitts at the end by a big margin. Following third place Smith were Joey Langis, Blake Boyette, Dave Fusco, Cale Nolen and Travis Guard. Pitts also was the heat race winner.

Dustin Wilson capped off his 2017 championship season with his 11th Scrambler feature win of the year. Keith Cantrill and William Kerns trailed Wilson to the checker. Wilson also won the heat race.

Super Late Models will Compete for the Sport’s Largest Winning Prize in Inaugural Mega-Event August 24th & 25th, 2018!

MANSFIELD, Ohio – The Super Late Model division will have a new mega-event next year with the introduction of the “Dirt Million” on Aug. 24-25, 2018, at Mansfield Motor Speedway, track promoter Cody Sommer announced.

Super Late Model drivers will compete for a minimum of $100,000 to win and $2,000 to start in the inaugural Dirt Million at the 4/10-mile oval, but the purse will continue to increase throughout the 2018 calendar year via a unique format and promotion that allows dirt racing families, friends, sponsors, fans and teams everywhere in the world to play a role in building the feature’s payoff. The total purse for the event can climb to a spectacular $1 million, which would result in the weekend’s A-main offering a $500,000 winner’s prize and $10,000 just to take the green flag. Under a unique format, the Dirt Million will be a part of the 2018 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule.

The Dirt Million becomes the latest addition to Sommer’s growing promotional resume. This year Sommer spearheaded the transformation of Mansfield Motor Speedway from an asphalt track that hosted crowds of over 20,000 fans for NASCAR Truck Series races to a world-class dirt facility by presenting several special events, including a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series program in July.

Sommer sees the creation of the Dirt Million and its unprecedented purse-building setup as possibly being a snapshot into the future of the sport.

“We live in a world today where individual people are more social, expressive and impactful than ever before,” Sommer said. “This event is catered to that fact and it will be very rewarding to watch the sport rally together, unified with one common goal.

“This event is truly one that rewards individuals for showing their support and getting behind something – literally the more it escalates the more it helps everyone, especially how it gives back to the racer.”

Sommer has billed the Dirt Million as an event “for the racers, by the fans.” He said virtually every aspect of the blockbuster will have a contributing element.

For starters, every driver registering for the event will become part of the event’s contribution system through a profile page at DirtMillion.com. Anyone who decides to support the race – by buying an event ticket, event merchandise, making a cash contribution directly to the purse or even paying a driver’s entry fee or pit pass – can specify the driver in whose name they’re contributing; the drivers who receive the most support will be in line for event benefits, including possible provisional starting spots for the headliner.

In addition, a portion of every ticket, camping reservation, VIP suite and pay-per-view video package sold will go directly to the growing purse, making the payoff ever-more lucrative. Simply stated, the more fans that attend the Dirt Million, the bigger the purse will be, providing incentive for drivers and teams to promote, endorse and support the event because their own fans’ investment in purchasing a ticket will help them as racers directly.

“If I was to explain this in the simplest way possible to a racer right in front of me, it’s this: The more you yourself, sponsors and fans support this event, the more money you are going to be able to race for,” Sommer said. “What is extremely ironic and not normal at all is that I am essentially putting a rev-limiter on the promoter side. There are plenty of events where a promoter packs the place and walks out with substantially more money than the guy that won the race, and the bottom line is this event is just not one of those events and it is not going to be through its design.”

Sommer said the guaranteed $100,000-to-win/$2,000-to-start purse totals $200,000 but the final payoff come race day will rise even higher. Each position in the 28-car field will increase by a corresponding percentage of the financial contributions that accumulate for the event, meaning that for every dollar contributed 50 percent will be added to the winner’s payoff; 10 percent to second place; 5 percent to third place; 3 percent to fourth place; 2 percent to fifth place; and downward to 1 percent for last place.

“So let’s say a fan says, ‘Man this is cool, I want to donate $5 to this,'” Sommer said. “They know that $2.50 (50%) of that $5 is going to the winner of that race and 1% is going to the guy that started the race. It’s the same for contributions of $10, $100 or whatever.”

If an additional $350,000 is raised, the purse would grow to $275,000 to win, $55,000 for second, $27,500 for third and down to $5,500 to start. If enough money is generated to reach the full $1 million payout goal, the $500,000 going to the race winner would be followed by such payouts as $100,000 for second, $50,000 for third and $10,000 to start the main event.

In the coming months additional details for the event will be released. Also soon to come will be the launch of DirtMillion.com, which will be the hub for the sport to watch the event’s purse grow in real time and include the registered driver profile pages amongst many other unique features.

Dirt Million event management is encouraging all fans and teams to follow their social pages on Twitter @DirtMillion and Facebook.com/DirtMillion. The event website will be launched soon at www.DirtMillion.com.
