BARBERVILLE, FL – March 9, 2010 — When the lights go up on Volusia Speedway Park this Saturday, a star-studded group of DIRTcar racers from near and far will take the stage. The 2010 season will officially be underway with nearly 30 weeks of racing action in store.

2009 Champions will be defending their titles against strong fields of up-and-coming performers. Lawton Minchew will ward off Late Model racers hungry for a Volusia Speedway championship. Rob Underwood will be in the sights of Modified teams including Dale Murray who narrowly missed the 2009 championship. Shaun Daugharty took home the Sportsman championship in 2008 and 2009. He will be looking for the “Triple Crown”. Grady Christian has been a strong contender in the Street Stock class for the last two seasons, bringing home champion honors in 2009. Scott Mooers led the new Thunder Stock class in 2009, but as this class grows in numbers, so does the competition. Danny Lunn took home the champion trophies in 2008 and 2009 for the 4-Cyl Challengers but will be up against several young drivers looking for first place honors.

Volusia Speedway’s 2010 season promises nothing less than spine tingling thrills, wild door-to-door racing, mouth-watering hamburgers, fabulous fries, beer that’s almost too cold to hold and family fun for everyone.
