Plans for the 2009 Ocala Speedway Championship Awards Banquet were suddenly derailed just after the New Year when the business that was hosting the event suddenly closed with no notice.  That set a scramble in motion as event organizers frantically tried to find a suitable replacement, and ultimately the event ended up being postponed indefinitely.  Then other events like the Ocala Speedway Winternationals demanded attention and focus, further delaying the search for a new location.

A couple of weeks ago Ocala Speedway owner Michael Peters announced that the banquet would be held on February 19th, regardless of whether an off site location could be found or not.  The search continued, and despite much effort and time spent looking at various locations, it has been decided that the banquet will take place at Ocala Speedway, from 7 PM until 11 PM, on Friday, February 19th.

Tickets are currently on sale at the speedway office, and can be purchased any Tuesday through Friday from 9AM until 4PM.  Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under, and those who plan to attend are urged to purchase tickets early so that planners can gauge how much food and supplies will be needed.  There will be a limited number of tickets available at the door.

Racers are reminded that Ocala Speedway has two practice sessions scheduled in February, the first on Saturday, February 13th, at 2PM and another the day after the banquet, Saturday, February 20th, at 2PM.
