Punta Gorda, FL – Sportsman and Pro Trucks returned to action with 35-Lap Special events, but Mother Nature showed up to temporally spoil the party as the Pro-4’s completed Lap-9 of a scheduled 25-lap Feature. The Mini-Stocks went first with Rick Bullard Jr., bring out his finally completed car for the win. He was followed by John Pummel, who settled for second after spinning twice in turn two in the 15-lap feature. Third went to Mike Kerrivan, making it a Mustang-Pinto-Mustang top-3.

Pro-4’s had Ken Badali leading when the caution for the weather hit the track. He was closely followed by Ryan Collver, Wally Smith, Dylan Bigley and Stuart Vandevander. After a 75-min delay the Pro-4’s were back in action and ACTION it was. The end result was Stuart Vandevander came forward to take the win, with Dylan Bigley just nosed out Ryan Collver for second and putting Collver third. Fouth would go to Ken Badali and Wally Smith hung on for fifth.

Cowboy Cadillac’s were challenged to a Hatfields VS Macoys style event with the Pure Stocks. This meant the Pure Stocks would start behind the field of Cowboy Caddy’s and see if they could get to the front, THRU THEM. Not easy to do. The wild and crazy result was an entertaining event that saw Chris Loney’s Pure Stock, finish fourth as the highest finishing Pure Stock, for the class win, behind Cowboy Cadillac’s of winner Mike Bialeki, second place finisher Robert Willms and Shane Moore’s third place effort. Rounding out the top five for the Cowboys’s would be Rick Mills fourth and Ray Scott fifth. Finishing second for the Pure Stocks would be Logan Leonard, with Nic Ortega third.

Sportsman fans saw lots of action as the high-high groove was still moist, but the bottom and second groove clean and fast. Pole sitter Ricky Bullard Jr., looked to have a fast car, winning his heat and getting the pole for the feature. Then Bullard used the front row starting spot to get the early lead and was driving away when the car slowed and he fell from first to fifth in one lap. Bullard pulled off after a few more laps and parked. That left a lot of hard racing to be done by Brian Richardson, Timmy Lowe and Gary McFall. McFall would windup fifth after falling out past halfway, Leaving Lowe and Richardson to decide the event. Once Brian Richardson got out front, Timmy Lowe did everything he could to get back by, even clipping the front  stretch wall, yet gaining ground on the leader. Richardson held on for the win, Lowe second and an ill-handling James Dubose came home third. Fourth went to Greg Krom, with McFall fifth.

Pro Trucks came to the track for their feature and Mother Nature returned to win this battle, leaving both Pro Trucks and Fab-4’s to make up races at a later date.

Next week it’s Open Wheel Modifieds returning to Action, with TQ Midgets, Sportsman back at it for a second week in-a-row, Pro-4, Fab-4, Road Warriors return and Cowboy Cadillac’s one more time before the end of September break. So don’t miss this action packed night of open wheeled rockets and full fenderd beatin and bangin at Punta Gorda Speedway.
