Friday Night Practice this week.
(July 9th, 2010) (previously it was posted for Thursday)
The Larry MacMillan Memorial 100
for Open Wheel Modified’s !!
July 10th, 2010
100 all green flag laps
(Note Below)
We would like to let the drivers know, that after speaking with several drivers, we will have a halfway break at lap 50. Many of the drivers/owners have expressed concern over making it 100 green flag laps on some of the smaller fuel cells. So we will stop the race at lap 50 for fuel and tire pressure adjustments only. No other adjustments may be made at that time and a maximum of 2 people per car on the track for the break.
$1500 to win
$200 to start
$75 entry fee
Race format:
All cars will qualify, top 20 qualifiers will be locked into the 100 lap feature. There will be a B-main to transfer 2 more cars to the 100 lap feature. The length of the B-main will be determined by the amount of cars in the B-main. 2 laps per car, maximum of 20 laps. So if there are 5 cars in the B-main, the race will be 10 laps long. After the B-main we will bring the remaining non-qualified drivers to the front straight with their cars. At that time the fans, by a show of applause will decide the last 2 cars to make it into the 100 lap feature. The final starting line-up for the feature will be determined by 1 of our fans rolling a giant foam die down the track. There could be a maximum of 12 cars inverted, or none if the die comes up on the one.
Citrus County Speedway rules do apply. You must use the Citrus County Speedway track approved American Racer threaded 8″ tire. There will be a 70 lb. allowance for fuel burn off. Any other tech questions should be directed to Travis Nichols at 352-585-3560. You may call the Speedway office at 352-726-9339 or John Chance at 352-201-8257 with any other questions. This will be a non points race. Please see below for the complete payoff.

NOTE: We would like to let the drivers know, that after some tire testing the last few weeks, we have decided to put a durometer rule in effect for this race. The no soaking policy will be lifted, it’s just too hard to police. We have tested several cars for the last two modified races at Citrus, before, during, and after the races. The softest reading we had on any tire was a 54 hot, most tires were in the 55 to 56 range. So for this race we will put a limit of 50 durometer reading, anything that reads less than a 50 will be disqualified.
We also would like to let the drivers know, that even with the 50 lap break for fuel, you will still be given a 50lb tolerance on total weight for fuel burn off.
If you have any questions about the above subjects, please call Travis Nichols at 352-585-3560

July 24th NOTE:
Citrus County Speedway and Neon Leon’s Zydeco Steakhouse in Old Homosassa , presents Twin 30’s for 4 cyl Stocks!
Race Date: July 24th, 2010 Race info: We previously had a 50 lap race scheduled for this night, but thanks to Neon Leon’s we have expanded this event to a much more exciting format. There will be two separate 30 lap races, with 2 separate winners and payouts. The win purse is $325 for each race. We will qualify all cars first, there will be a $75 fast qualifier award sponsored by FDS Disposal. We will roll the dice to invert rows for the first race, and run the race. After the first race, we will take a 15 minute break to talk to the winner and allow drivers to fuel their cars and make adjustments. You may adjust anything you like on your cars, fuel, tire pressure, ect. There will be NO changing of tires in between races, you may move them around on the car, but you can not put new or different tires on your cars. After the 15 minute break, we will roll the dice again, and invert the finishing order from the first race. We will then run the second 30 lap race. The top 3 finishers from both races must go through tech after the second race. There will be a $35 entry fee for these races. We encourage cars from other tracks with similar rules to come run this race. We will make weight adjustments to try to make the field competitive. Please visit our website for our track rules: Auburndale cars may bring their rules and run with these exceptions: You must weight 2450 lbs and pull a minimum vacuum of 17″ at 1000 rpm’s. For additional tech questions please call Travis Nichols at 352-585-3560. Please check the website for additional information on this race, it is growing everyday. |
