BARBERVILLE, FL- With the excitement of the Scott Thompson Memorial still fresh in our memory, Volusia Speedway Park is set to take a break on Saturday, July 3rd, and allow our racers, fans, and our staff, to enjoy the Independence Day weekend with their family and friends. But after this brief red flag it will be back to racing on Saturday, July 10th, with the Challenger Challenge plus four more exciting racing divisions, followed by a full schedule of racing action over the rest of the 2010 season.
The Challenger Challenge is certainly worth waiting for, as Volusia Speedway Park’s highly competitive 4 Cylinder Challenger Division will hit the south’s fastest half mile with a $500 cash carrot dangling in front of them. Fans will also see action from the Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Late Models, the Budweiser Modifieds, the Daytona Sportswear Street Stocks, and the Amsoil Synthetic Lubricants Thunder Stocks. And as an added bonus, the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association (DAARA) will be on hand to race their vast collection of vintage race cars.
Fans should also be excited about Saturday, July 10th, if they hail from a city that begins with the letter “P”. Fans who can prove that they live in a city that begins with “P” by showing proper ID, will be admitted to see all of the action at no charge, so fans from places like Ponce Inlet, Palatka, Palm Coast, and more, should be sure to put Volusia Speedway Park on their “to do” list for that weekend.
So while die hard race fans will have to gut out a Saturday without racing on the clay at Volusia Speedway Park over the Independence Day holiday, there is plenty to anticipate as racing returns on July 10th.
