Bubba Army Dirt Late Model Winter Nationals Begins Celebration Of National Tour’s 10th Anniversary Season Under World Racing Group Banner

WoO_World_of_Outlaws_Logo_Dirt_Late_Models_Late_Model_RacingNewsNetwork_comOCALA, FL – Jan. 16, 2014 – The running of the third annual Bubba Army Dirt Late Model Winter Nationals on Feb. 14-16 at Bubba Raceway Park will mark two significant milestones for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

For starters, a season-long celebration of the 10th anniversary of the national tour’s rebirth in 2004 will begin with the weekend tripleheader at the unique egg-shaped, three-eighths-mile oval. In addition, the opening night of the meet – a 40-lap, $8,000-to-win event on Fri., Feb. 14 – is set to be the 400th WoO LMS A-Main contested since the circuit resumed action 10 years ago under the World Racing Group banner.

Landmarks aside, the tour’s visit to BRP will also kick off the chase for the prestigious WoO LMS championship. A typically star-studded roster of drivers is eyeing the $100,000 title in 2014, including:

Josh Richards. The three-time and defending WoO LMS champion from Shinnston, W.Va., is geared up to pursue another points crown with his father Mark’s Rocket Chassis house car team after making his triumphant return in 2013 following a season spent pursuing his NASCAR aspirations. There will be a couple new looks to Richards’s effort in ’14: veteran wrench-turner Randall Edwards has come on board to serve as his chief mechanic (’13 WoO LMS Crew Chief of the Year Matt Barnes won’t travel as extensively with Richards this season) – and sometime during the season, Richards, who turns 26 on March 22, plans to become a married man by tying the knot with Andrea Cleveland. Florida State Dirt Championship Races A Success at Bubba Raceway Park

The Florida State Championships were a hit for the Late Models, Scorpion UMP Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Mini Sprints, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, TQ Late Models, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators as all eight winners would take home some cash and a beautiful championship ring.
Limited Late Models kicked the night off with Forrest Gough leading the pack as many others struggled in the opening laps. Cecil Eunice would grab the lead from Gough on lap eight as they opened up a half lap over the field. A caution with eight to go would give 2013 division champion Tyler Clem a shot at Eunice and Gough but he wouldn’t make the most of it. 22 99 14 77 61
The Mini Sprints started with Robbie Smith toppling his #77 in turn two. Smith would continue on after the yellow with Jim Young, Connor Borah, and Austin Craddock leading the way. A toople by Robby Hoffman would halt the field on lap four and leave Young to hold off Eddie Moss, Jr. and David Hall. On lap 17, Connor Borah would make contact with traffic and go for a wild tumble in turn four as Jim Young was closing in on lapping him. Borah would climb out of the wreckage under his own power. Young would take a dominant win over Eddie Moss, Jr., David Hall, Austin Craddock, and Kenny Brewer. (more…)

IMG_5430ab18e4Ocala, FL- The inaugural Leftovers Classic at Bubba Raceway Park hosted the Bubba Army Mini Sprints, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, TQ Late Models, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators in a wonderful Sunday show.

The Hobby Stocks would open up the Leftovers Classic with a 25-lapper and Donnie Ashford would lead the pack over Tim Powers and Kevin Durden. On lap seven the battle for sixth would bring out a caution as Patrick Williams and Eddie Kilbury came together to slow the field and leave Ashford to hold off Powers and Durden on the restart. Mike Stalnaker would find the line and jump to second by the time Dennis Williams’ flat left rear would bring the yellow out with just nine laps remaining. Ashford would have to hold Stalnaker off as well as Rodney Wright. Stalnaker would grab the lead after a few circuits after Ashford slipped up on lap 18 and Ashford left the door for Rodney Wright to finish second. Ashford would slip to third over Kevin Durden and Tim Powers. Stalnaker would also grab the Dirts 4 Racing Hard Charger Award. (more…)
