Following a multi-car tangle at Concord Speedway last weekend, Cory Joyce and his team will spend most of the week leading up to this weekend’s events at Tri-County Motor Speedway repairing heavy damage to their No. 20 Ultimate Turf Chevy. Though the severe body damage will force long hours at the Cory Joyce Racing shop, the 20-year-old driver is optimistic to get back to the track and pick up where he left off before the incident at Concord. Joyce maintained a solid running position well inside the top-10 on Saturday prior to the contact from another competitor that sent him spinning into the pack of traffic around him.

“We really had a good run going and I was able to move my line around to make the car better as the night went on,” Joyce explained. “Even though it’s going to be a lot of work, I’m sure once we get the body back on our Ultimate Turf Chevy, we’ll be able to get back up in that lead pack again this weekend.”

Joyce is no stranger to Tri-County after making his first six career starts in a stock car at the track in 2008. After purchasing his first stock car from NASCAR veteran Ron Hornaday, he traveled to the Hudson, North Carolina short track to cut his teeth in a full-bodied car. He finished eighth in the track point standings that year, despite running only six of the 17 races on the schedule.

“I’m excited to go back to the track where I got my start in stock cars. We had some pretty good finishes there four years ago and I hope to settle back in pretty quickly and do the same this weekend. ”

UARA-STARS competitors hit the track for Friday’s events at Tri-County Motor Speedway for practice sessions from 12:30-1:30 pm and 2:15-3:00 pm. Qualifying for the UARA-STARS 150 will be held at approximately 5:30 pm, with the green set for 8:00 pm EST. A Look Back at Concord: Cory Joyce joined the rest of the UARA-STARS competitors at Concord Speedway on Saturday for the City Chevrolet 150, second of three races in a row on the schedule. With a strong, top-10 finish in sight, Joyce was knocked out of contention with three laps when he was involved in a wild multi-car incident. The damage sustained to the No. 20 Ultimate Turf Chevy was too severe for Joyce to continue to the checkers, handing him a 13th place finish.
